I went out with captain Fabian in hopes of catching some fish on the fly. He and his crew worked hard all day to put me on fish. The boat was equipped with fly rods as well as light and heavy conventional gear for a wide selection of fishing techniques. Conditions weren't ideal but they got it done! They had a cooler full of drinks, a delicious lunch and good tunes. I had the honor of being the first trip out on his new boat. There was plenty of room for 2 people casting on the bow. The tackled provided was good quality and the crew was professional and knew their stuff. They took plenty of pictures for me as well. If you're looking for a good time fishing while you're in quepos then look no further. I'll be booking with them next time I'm in Costa Rica.

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write such an amazing review! It was an absolute pleasure having you aboard and an honor to share the maiden trip on our new boat with you. We really appreciate your patience and positive attitude, especially with the challenging conditions. Seeing everything come together and getting you on fish made the day even more rewarding. We're glad you enjoyed the boat, the gear, the food, and the overall experience. Fly fishing is our passion, and it means a lot to hear that our hard work and attention to detail made a difference. Thank you again for trusting us with your day on the water. We can't wait to fish with you again the next time you're back in Costa Rica. Until then, tight lines and see you soon!

We had a great day with Captain Fabian and his crew. They worked very hard to put us on fish but we only got one triple tail early in the day that we threw back. He made us a great lunch onboard with smoked tuna sandwiches. We would definitely go out with him again. The boat and his crew are top notch.

Capt Fabian did a great job! He worked hard to find the fish, going further out to where reports of tuna and Sails were following a pod of Dolphin. We ended up catching some tuna, and the overall experience was excellent. On the way in he cut up some for a snack and then steaked the rest for us to take for dinner. We saw hundreds of dolphin in a massive pod, with the tuna schooling around them. It was a spectacular sight. Then we saw a couple humpback whales, multiple sea turtles, etc. the ocean was teeming with life. Capt Fabian's English was outstanding, and he had top notch Shimano gear and garmin electronics. His boat is super clean and he takes care of it. You can tell he enjoys fishing and wants to catch fish as bad as you do! We fished right next to several large sportfishers, and they were doing the same thing as us at 3x the cost!!! I have fished in CR out of the same Marina 6 times in the last 12 months. Big boats and small boats in shore and off shore. Will absolutely charter Fly Legend again. Recommend for 3 people to ensure everyone has room to fight the fish.
Fabian and Zachary were awesome!! they had tons of drinks for us! even though we had a slower day and only caught one tuna we had a great time and were able to spot all kinds of sea creatures. 10/10 service would highly reccomend booking with Fly Legend!!
Captain Fabien and his crew are excellent! They are very knowledgeable, and we were lucky enough to catch multiple yellowfin tuna. We highly recommend him as a captain, and if we ever get the chance to come back to Costa Rica, we would love to book with him again!

Thank you so much Pete! It was a pleasure having you guys out with us. We had an awesome day chasing yellowfin tuna! One of the highlights for us was watching Armando get in on the action, casting at tuna and then feeding a live bait himself and hooking up. Those are the moments we love to see! We really appreciate the recommendation and hope we get the chance to fish together again next time you’re back in Costa Rica. Tight lines!
Quepos, Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica
I'm Captain Fabián Ramírez, born and raised in Costa Rica. My family has run a whitewater rafting company since 1993, so adventure and the outdoors have always been part of my life. After graduating high school, I moved to San José for college, but the beauty of Manuel Antonio pulled me back. I spent the next 10 years guiding rivers and sharing Costa Rica's wild side with travelers from around the world. Fishing was always a passion of mine, but I never got to do it as much as I wanted—until my son Kai was born. He was hooked from the start, and that's when my own fishing journey truly began. We started casting for Machacas in the river, then moved to kayaks in the mangroves and along the coast. Eventually, I got my first boat—a custom 13-footer with a 15 HP engine. Eight years later, I'm proud to run fishing trips out of Manuel Antonio, doing what I love and helping others create unforgettable memories on the water.
