If you're looking to spend a vacation in Long Island ,The Bahamas, spend it on the breathtaking flats that surround this island. Bonefish Paradise Fishing Services isn't named like it is for no reason and they'll show you just why - join them in stalking the flats for the gorgeous fish there.
Climb aboard the 17' flats boat manufactured by Andros, perfectly suitable for this type of terrain. She has been recently restored (in 2015), so everything is in tip-top shape. She's powered by a solid 85 HP Yamaha outboard engine. On board, you can find Captain Dwayne Knowles, a captain with over 30 years of experience guiding customers in the waters of Deadman's Cay ,Long Island, Bahamas.
The flats are home to many exciting species you can target, among which are the world famous Tarpon, Barracuda, and Jack Crevalle, as well as the Permit, Lemon, Blacktip Sharks, and Bonefish. Fishing techniques that are available are spinning (for Barracuda) and fly fishing - Capt. Dwayne is an expert at those. Customers should bring their own spinning gear and flyfishing equipment is available for an extra charge.
Clients are recommended to stay at Kooters vacation rentals,Mangrove Bush Long Island Bahamas though any accommodations is fine too. The charter has a strict catch-and-release policy in place, though clients can keep Snapper if they intend to eat it afterward. Children are welcome on board but there is a 9-year-old minimum age policy.

Capt Dwayne is awesome, grew up here and knows the flats extremely well, it is his backyard, fishing with him is like being n school, he doesn't just say fish at 11:00 20 yards out, he teaches u why the fish r thr and doin what they r doin, he doesn't waste time waitin for fish, he finds them

Friendly, patient with my casting and fish spotting limits. Challenging conditions because the tides were unusual and some of his favorite flats were high and dry at high tide. But he got us into lots of fish. I would go again with Dwayne.

Such a tough day and Dwayne did everything a good guide could do to find fish. We contended with 20-30 mph winds and broken clouds. The bones didn't want to come up to the flats and the few fish we did locate were in slightly deeper water. I was able to get my fly to one and catch my first bone. Dwayne was incredibly fun to be with and we moved around a lot looking for fish. The boat was what I look for when I find a guide, older, well used and well maintained. I learned a ton and couldn't have asked for a better trip considering the conditions. My wife was able to come along as a non-angler and wandered some of the sand bars while we fished.
I'll definitely be booking with Dwayne the next time I come to Long Island and I'll be praying the weather is a bit nicer.

Second day with Dwayne. The conditions sucked and it was our final day on Long Island so we ventured back out. Anytime I pay for a guided trip, I'm paying for an experience not numbers. Dwayne made the trip as worthwhile as possible and continued to teach me about the flats and bonefish. I would happily pay double or triple his guide price if he put on a bonefish class. His knowledge is incredible and his humor is always present.
My wife and I are considering Exuma for our next trip and I will probably find a way to get over to Long Island just to fish with Dwayne again.
