Looking to catch some fish in Puerto Morelos? Then Double Trouble has a trip with your name on it! With Captain Tommy at the helm, you'll have a knowledgeable and experienced guide.

Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Albacore Tuna, Amberjack, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Blue Marlin, Cubera Snapper, Great Barracuda, Bull Shark, Skipjack, Grouper, Mackerel, and whatever else takes the bait. On the day of your trip you're likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.

Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Also remember to bring snacks – lucky for you, there will already be some on board!

Capt. Yasmin welcomes you aboard a 33' Bertram sportfishing boat with space for 6 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and everything you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. What's more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible. Capt. Tommy will supply rods and reels for you, along with lures.

You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.

Before coming aboard, you'll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.

You can't go wrong when you bring sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks for you on board.

Give yourself something to look forward to and book a trip with Double Trouble!

Great Trip, Amazing Crew!
6 Hour Trip on July 7, 20262 adults

We booked the 6-hour fishing trip with Captain Tommy during our trip to Cancun, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our vacation. From start to finish, the entire experience was amazing. Captain Tommy and his crew were attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive throughout the trip, making sure my husband and I felt comfortable and had everything we needed. We were lucky enough to catch six Mahi Mahi, which made the day even more exciting and memorable. The crew helped guide us through the process and made the experience fun from the moment we got on the boat until we returned. You can tell they truly care about giving guests a great time on the water. One of the best parts was after the trip, when Captain Tommy personally walked us to a nearby restaurant where they prepared our fresh catch for us. The Mahi Mahi was cooked perfectly, and it was so fresh and delicious. It was such a special way to end the day and made the whole experience feel even more complete. We cannot recommend Captain Tommy and his crew enough. If you are visiting Cancun and looking for a fun, memorable fishing experience, this is definitely the trip to book. We will absolutely be re-booking with them the next time we return to Cancun!

These guys know how it's done
8 Hour Trip on May 28, 20261 adult

I fish every year across Mexico and the US. I've all kinds of experiences with all kinds of results. The newest boats don't catch more fish, the hardest working crews always make for a positive experience and the communication and care for what works for the fisherman always makes for the best day on the water. I reached out to the crew of double trouble as logistically I had a few requests. I also knew we had some mixed weather coming in. Most boats will tell you yes to everything, collect your money up front and if weather etc becomes an issue that is not on them. In this case the crew reached out for updates right up to the morning of our trip. As an experienced fisherman I was not worried about dealing with weather (if you know this, some times not so favorable weather makes for good fishing!). The crew and I had discussions and it was decided we would go even on a late start. We were the only boat out that day (that we know of) and it was a rough start. We choose to fish working against the storm. and eventually broke through. Just a few minutes after we were on the fish! Dorado, Marlin and then hit some snapper etc. We had the ocean to our selves and it proved to be an excellent trip. If you want an outfit that is reasonably priced, knows the old school ways of doing things and cares about you then give them a shout. Worked for me and I got my first White Marlin w/ them.

Thank you so much for your comment! We knew from the start that you're a professional fisherman, and lucky you were, because we had a great catch! We hope to see you soon on another day of adventure.

Great Crew, Rough Conditions: A Fishing Charter Mostly Derailed by Seaweed
6 Hour Trip on July 21, 20262 adults

Let me start by explaining the pick-up location. This boat isn’t docked Fort Morales; it’s just a pick-up point. TYou’ll need to go out to the pier, and they’ll pick you up from there. The pick-up itself was no problem, but when the boat arrived, it was smoking like it was on fire. Turns out, the boat hadn’t been started in a month, and was burning through old fuel and fluids. Fortunately, they quickly fixed it, and we were underway. We were introduced to our captain, Tomas, and the deckhand, Vincente. Both were great. They always made sure we had a beer in our hand or a bottle of water because it was a hot day. We had booked a six-hour fishing charter, primarily for deep-sea fishing for sport fish. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to touch a rod the entire time we were trolling for large fish. The seaweed was so bad that the crew was constantly reeling in the bait to clear the lines from it. Out of the entire six-hour journey, we only touched a rod and reel the last hour when we were bottom fishing for smaller fish. In that hour, we caught five fish, which were under a foot long and didn’t put up much of a fight. Overall, we were very disappointed with the day as a whole but that was at not fault of the crew. We thought that with six hours to fish, we would be reeling in fish consistently, but that wasn’t the case. Again, It was at no fault of the staff as they were working the entire time trying to make something happen and put us on fish. In the future, I would absolutely book this charter again, but it would only be for bottom fishing and not sport fishing because the seaweed definitely plaed a huge factor.

Great trip
Viaje 4hrs on October 27, 20254 adults

From the booking process right through to the filleting and cleaning of the fish we were extremely impressed with Tommy and his crew We were given a pin of the exact location and time to meet, everything that had been discussed via messages prior to the booking was 100% accurate and were away with no fuss for a great morning of fishing The team guided us through everything given it was our first time and we managed to bag 8 fish and 1 eel, which we obviously cut loose They were knowledgeable about the fish we caught and the location to find them given we were slightly out of season and fun was had by all Would definitely recommend Thanks Tommy and your team
