Want to go fishing during your trip to the Beverly/Salem/Marblehead area?  Look no further than Portside Fishtales to help you create lasting memories and a yearning to come back for more.  Captain John is a Gloucester native now residing in Danvers, with more than 50 years experience fishing the waters of Salem Sound, Cape Ann, Massachusetts Bay, and the Gulf of Maine.

These waters are known for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Bluefin Tuna, Sharks of all kinds, Black Seabass, Haddock, Cod, Flounder, Atlantic Mackerel, Bonito, and more.  Salem Sound is a hotbed of fishing activity during prime season (May - October) and we guarantee that you will catch fish with us.

On the day of your trip we will let you know what the sea conditions are, where the fish are biting, and make sure that you and your friends & family have a great day on the water!

Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome!  We offer specialized trips that cater to kids needs and have all required safety equipment on hand to make sure they are safe at all times.  Make sure to bring your own sun protection, a sweatshirt or light jacket for cool mornings, hat and sunglasses are also recommended.

Your day begins aboard a 24' Center console with lots of room and seating to ensure your comfort. It comes with everything you need for a safe and productive day on the water.  There's also a toilet on board for your convenience.

Rods, reels, and tackle are ready for you, along with lures. We frequently use live bait and you'll be catching it yourself to make it even more fun!

The charter boat covers your fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. The captain will help you follow regulations while you fish.

A few items to bring include sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
