Caña Brava
Excited to fish in Costa Rica? Look no further than Caña Brava, the newest boat in the fleet of Pez Loco Charters! With Captain Julian at the helm, you'll benefit from years of knowledge and experience.
Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Skipjack Tuna, Wahoo, Cubera Snapper, Goliath Grouper, and whatever else is biting. You can expect to do some spinning, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Snacks are never a bad idea for a boost of energy when needed!
Your excursion begins aboard a 43' Viking convertible with room for 7 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. What's more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. A 15–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.
You will need to get a local fishing license before the trip. They are available for purchase at the marina the day of your trip or can be purchased ahead of time online.
It's never a bad idea to bring sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks for you on board.
The click of a button is the only thing keeping you from a great day on the water with Caña Brava!

Enjoyed our fishing outing. Captain and first mate were great. Very kind and professional. Boat is excellent. Only downside was that we came away with no fish. We did have a sailfish hooked, but it snapped the line. Sometimes that’s just how it goes!

We’re glad that you had a good time. Unfortunately fishing is fickle and can be great one day and really slow the next. Your next trip is sure to be more productive.
