SHEWLL Charters - Captain Alex is here to show you the stunning waters of Morehead City. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Alex can tell you all about the local fishery.

Depending on conditions, you might hook into Skipjack, Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Sailfish, Bluefish (Tailor), and whatever else takes the bait.

On the day of your trip you're likely to troll using light or heavy tackle.

Capt. Alex believes in teaching kids to fish while they're young, so get 'em offline and onto the water! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Also remember to bring snacks!

Your trip begins aboard a 23' Center console with space for 6 passengers. It comes with everything you need for a productive day on the water.

Rods, reels, and tackle are ready for you, along with lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.

You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.

There's no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Keep in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.

It's never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Go ahead and treat yourself to a day on the water with SHEWLL Charters - Teachs Kiteboarding.

Half day with capt Alex
Half Day Trip on May 16, 2026

This was an absolutely awesome time! I don't have much fishing experience, and Alex made me feel right at home! He's a super knowledgeable fisherman as well as an accomplished captain. I learned a ton about local history, as well as fishing knowledge and a few new knots. I would recommend this trip for anyone from beginner to advanced! My first fish was a solid king, followed by large bluefish and albacore—what a fun fight! Alex also owns a kiteboarding and e-foiling school if you're looking for something more extreme sport-oriented, basically a one-stop shop for water adventures in the area. 10/10 recommend!

True Local Guide
Half Day Trip on May 13, 2026

Within less than a minute of setting out, Alex Fisher had us hooked into our first fish. The man truly understands the local waters—his knowledge of water temperatures, timing, and seasonality is next-level. While a lot of the other boats out there seemed to be struggling, we caught about 8 keepers, plus countless bluefish that we threw back. Alex's boat setup is incredibly efficient. I hadn't been fishing in at least four years (and that was just for trout), but he made everything seamless and easy to get back into. He is a true local with deep roots on the island—he even mentioned his relatives go back to the island's whaling days. Alex is a super cool, insightful guy who is completely in tune with the environment. I don't think we could have had a better day.

Fun day on Shewll Charters. We started the morning catching bonita just off the beach, then ventured further out where we landed a king mackerel and a couple of massive bluefish. Captain Alex and his Mate Charles were very knowledgeable and worked hard to put us on some fish.
