A fish is waiting for you in Río Lagartos, and Tarpon Paradise will help you catch it!

Fishing here is popular for Tarpon, Snook, Barracuda, Speckled Trout, Jack, Cobia, Bonefish, and many more species depending on the season.

For these species, you'll use light or heavy tackle depending on the needs and the type of fishing you're doing. Make sure you bring the right equipment by talking to your captain, Carlos Can. All fish you catch will be released if they are protected species. If you'd like to keep any fish to eat, talk to Captain Carlos; he can clean your catch and cook it for you.

Tarpon Paradise excursions are open to the whole family so that everyone can come and disconnect for a day! Children must wear life jackets, so check if the right size is available on board. Don't forget to bring snacks!

Captain Carlos will take you aboard a 23-foot boat that can accommodate up to two passengers. Everything you need is included: permits, insurance, and a cooler.

Fishing rods and reels are not provided, so please ask the captain if you can bring your own or rent them for an additional fee.

Your fishing license is included in the trip. However, natural park entrance fees are not included and must be purchased separately. Some species may be protected or require a tag for conservation purposes, so be sure you know what to expect on your days on the water.

It's always a good idea to bring sunscreen (not spray) and polarized sunglasses. Drinks are included. Moderate alcohol consumption is permitted, but please avoid hard liquor and glass bottles. Lunch is included on a calm, shallow island, perfect for cooling off. Contact us for more information, especially if you have any dietary requirements.

Your trip with Tarpon Paradise is just a click away, why not make it happen?

Días maravillosos de Pesca con Mosca de Baby Tarpon.
fishing in the wild on June 13, 2026

A Week of Fishing Heaven with Carlos Can!
fishing in the wild on September 26, 2025

As a former fly fishing guide and charter captain, I'm probably a very critical customer. I can't say enough good things about Carlos and his Rio Lagartos operation. The incredible fishing, his intimate knowledge of the estuary and the fishery, the amazing food and hospitality, the feeling of being part of the family are all part of what keeps us coming back! This is truly my favorite lodge on the planet. Fly fishing for tarpon can be stressful in many locations around the world, but it's incredibly laid back here. With separate morning and evening sessions, you avoid the brutal heat of midday. Back to the lodge around 11:30am, a fantastic lunch and a little siesta leave you prepared for the evening bite and some of the most amazing sunsets you've ever seen! Carlos is a great captain, guide and teacher, who can put anglers of all skill levels on fish. I can't recommend him enough!

Half Day Trip with Carlos
fishing in the wild on February 21, 2025

Best guided fishing trip I have ever been on. Carlos's boat handling, ability to put you on fish, his knowledge of local flora and fauna and his sparkling personality all combined to make the trip a joy both for myself (and more importantly) for my non fishing girlfriend. Highly recommended!
