Authentic Nature Tours is all about fishing the stunning waters of Río Lagartos.

Around here it's common to catch Tarpon, Snook, Horse-eye Jack, Almaco Jack, Skipjack, Cobia, Great Barracuda, Jack Crevalle, Spotted Seatrout, and more with any luck.

You'll target your catch by spinning, popping, trolling, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Juan Carlos also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.

Plus, you can have your catch cleaned.

You'll be casting lines from a 23' Headboat that can carry up to 2 passengers. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine can run without.

Rods and reels are not supplied for you, so ask the captain about bringing your own or renting some for an extra cost. Be sure to ask about bait and lures as well. Live bait is available, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.

Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, just show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.

Don't forget to bring sunglasses, a hat, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks provided on board.
