I have been around boats and fishing all my life. At the age of 12 I worked in the boat shop with my grandfather, at the age of 17 I went in the Coast Guard for 4 years, and at the age of 32 I became a charter boat captain. For years I fished in the summer and built boats in the winter. I have over 32 charter boats built in the Sullivan name, one of which holds the North Carolina State Bluefin Tuna record at this moment. Now, me and my son work together, finishing up my career and hoping to pass on the family tradition. I have fished many tournaments in my offshore career and now I am semi-retired, fishing inshore, Nearshore and 6 hour trips. Over my 48 years I have tried to make each and every Charter the be the most memorable one anyone can have.

Correction…Capt Bob, not Capt Mike…I am not a fishing expert but I have gone on a charter fishing trip in Gulf of Mexico where we used chum and live bait and caught fish.  On this trip, only lures were used.  On a 4 hr trip…after 1st hour I would be using different bait or trying something different.  Also in good conscience, if fish had not been biting for a few days, I would not keep people out for all 4 hours and not refund some of their money.  Granted no guarantee on fishing, but $550 +$120 tip = one 8 inch fish not worthy of keeping.  Won’t be a repeat for me.  Capt Bob and son Doug are good people, but someone needs to think a different approach if you want repeat customers…no snacks offered either.

sometimes when the fish are not biting unfortunately you have to work your way down the beach to try to find some Bait fish to get into the fish. And sometimes that takes you out of your plan B distance. I fully understand the customer not being happy with his catch and unfortunately the only guarantees when you book a boat is a boat ride the fish are a bonus. We do go out of our way to try to find the fish and make you comfortable and happy while looking for them. As for the snacks on our site with Clearly say that we do not Supply any snacks or drinks we are there to take you to the fish and that is what we try to do.

We booked this crew a couple days prior and got a call and a voicemail soon thereafter telling us about the trip and who to look for and how to get a hold of the crew prior if need be. The Captain was waiting for our group on the dock and was very friendly and professional the whole trip. His mate was also extremely helpful and courteous during the excursion. I would definitely recommend this crew and charter to anyone interested in a trip like this.
