Puerto Rico Saltwater Experience – Ponce
There's a fish with your name on it in Ponce and Puerto Rico Saltwater Experience will help you catch it! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Rafael knows them forwards and back.
Depending on the season, you might hook into Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Blue Marlin, Jack Crevalle, Tarpon, Snook, Permit, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Skipjack Tuna, Great Barracuda, Sailfish, Amberjack, and whatever else takes the bait. On these trips, you can expect to troll using light tackle. Capt. Rafael also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear. For the more adventurous among you, there's spearfishing.
The fish caught are yours to keep, so long as they meet regulations. Catch cleaning is available, so you can take your fish home without any hassle. Talk about bang for your buck!
If you're traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Snacks are never a bad idea so that everyone stays happy and energized!
You'll be casting lines from a 23' SeaCraft center console that can carry up to 4 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, and all the essentials. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates often work for tips and it's customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
There's no need to buy a fishing license, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
Don't forget to bring sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks for you on board.

Rafael and Fernando did a excellent job. I love this team. Coupd not find a better captain. Did several spots a tried aeveral fishings. Super happy with my trip!!!
I've been a fisherman since the day I was born, growing up right in front of the beach and learning the ocean like a second language. After completing my bachelor's and master's degrees, I dedicated myself to commercial fishing, a career I've pursued for the past seven years. In 2024, I earned my USCG license and launched my own fishing charter business. Today, I operate in the same waters I've fished all my life, sharing with guests the true potential of the west side of Puerto Rico one of the island's richest and most exciting fishing grounds.
