Your trip takes place aboard our 32’ sportfishing boat, equipped with outriggers, quality rods and reels, a bathroom on board, essential safety equipment, and top-of-the-line Simrad GPS and fish finder technology to support navigation, reading the water, and locating the best fishing opportunities.
Depending on the season and ocean conditions, you may target Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Wahoo, Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Amberjack, Grouper, Horse-eye Jack, and more.
Captain Alex and the crew may use trolling, jigging, live bait, bottom fishing, or other techniques based on the conditions that day. Every trip is guided by what is happening on the water in real time, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Safety is a major part of the Monkey Head difference. The business is led by internationally certified captains with extensive training with the owner also being a certified Costa Rican Lifeguard. Our crew monitors ocean conditions closely and makes decisions with safety, comfort, and responsible boating in mind.

From the moment we left the marina, the crew worked tirelessly to put us on fish and made the entire experience feel effortless. Watching my friend land an incredible 80 pound yellowfin tuna on his birthday was a once in a lifetime memory that none of us will ever forget. The captain and crew were knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely excited to celebrate every catch with us, which made the day even more special. If you’re looking for an unforgettable fishing experience in Nosara, this is the trip to book.

Everything was incredible we catched sailfish, big tuna and a couple of mahis. Captain knew the area really well used the right gear and was super nice, crew was really cool as well helping out with everything but letting us fish. Boat was amazing we were 5 people fishing lots of space!

I’ve done several charters before and this was by far the best. The company meets you on the beach before you get on the boat reducing confusion and anxiety. They also ask questions to make sure the fishing trip works for you not just for them. All around a great day!

- First mate (Every charter includes a bilingual first mate from Playa Garza who has fished these waters his entire life. Gratuities are not included. A 15–20% cash tip is customary for great service and always appreciated but up to your discretion. )

Our story begins just steps from where you load the panga taxi in Playa Garza. Both our owner Captain Jordanny along with Captain Alex grew up along this coastline, learning to navigate the ocean long before they learned to drive a motorcycle or car. Fishing began as a childhood passion and a way to help provide food, but it quickly became a lifelong calling. Captain Alex began working on local boats as a teenager before advancing to international opportunities aboard award-winning sportfishing vessels. Our owner remained rooted in the local community, continuing to build his credentials, support community initiatives, and grow Monkey Head Adventures from one small panga in 2018 into a full-service tour operation. Today, both are internationally certified captains who place safety first on every trip. Their greatest passion is sharing their home, local knowledge, and lifelong love of the ocean with every guest who comes aboard.

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 7 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.

When the captain confirms your trip, FishingBooker charges your credit card a 15% deposit to guarantee your reservation.
The remaining balance is to be paid directly to the charter operator on or prior to your trip date in one of the following payment methods:
