If you're ready to get hooked on fishing in beautiful Gold Beach, Oregon, throughout the summer, or anywhere in Southern Oregon for steelhead, look no further than Matt Ford's Guide Service. With Captain Matt at the helm, you'll benefit from years of knowledge and experience.
Depending on the season, you might hook into Halibut, Rockfish, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Lingcod, Black Rockfish, Sturgeon, Albacore Tuna, Crab, and whatever else takes the bait.
Depending on the species you're after, you may find yourself spinning, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or using a more specialized technique suited to the area. Capt. Matt also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly-fishing gear.
Families looking to make a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Snacks are permitted onboard, so bring your favorites!
Your excursion begins aboard a 21' jet boat with space for 6 passengers. It comes with everything you need for a productive day on the water. Capt. Matt will provide rods and reels, along with lures.
Before coming aboard, you may need to purchase a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off-limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
A few items to bring include a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunscreen (non-spray). If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, as long as you avoid hard liquor and glass bottles.
How often do you wish you could go fishing? Go ahead and turn that daydream into a reality with Matt Ford's Guide Service.

Matt was awesome. Slow bit, but managed to put a pretty good King on the boat. The other 3 clients cancelled, and on most boats, that would mean I'd get a call cancelling the trip. Matt just grabbed a couple friends to be temporary "deck hands" and I got to fish the 4 rods until I'd gotten one. Fun to talk to, interested in fishing (you'd think this would be a must for charter captains, but... it's sadly not true all the time). Friendly and knowledgeable. Plan on going back in September to get some Coho.
we had soooooooo much fun. he was a great guide. knew right where the fish were and was sooo patient with my son. highly recommend too

thank you guys so much. You're amazing customers. I look forward to seeing you guys soon.

Hello, my name is Matt. I was raised in beautiful Southern Oregon and have lived here my entire life. My dad always had me out fishing and hunting while I was growing up. I saved up and bought my first boat as a teenager. Since then, I've loved taking both new and seasoned anglers out on the water to make lasting memories. Life is about creating moments that will last a lifetime, and there's nothing more exciting for me than being part of what I hope will be one of your most memorable and lasting experiences. I hope to see you on the water!
