You can expect to try spinning, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or other specialized techniques. Captain John also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly-fishing gear.
Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask whether child-sized life jackets are available; otherwise, you should bring your own. Snacks are also a good idea to keep your energy up throughout the trip.
You’ll be fishing aboard a 32' Downeast boat that can accommodate up to 6 passengers. The boat is equipped with downriggers and all the essentials, as well as a toilet for your convenience.
Rods, reels, tackle, and lures are provided. Live bait may also be available, so be sure to ask whether it’s included and if you’ll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be on board to assist you throughout the trip and help put you on the fish. Mates work hard to make your experience a great one, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
Your fishing license is covered by the charter, so you can simply arrive and get ready to fish. Keep in mind that some species may be subject to harvest limits or closed seasons. Your captain will help ensure you follow all applicable regulations.
We recommend bringing sunscreen (non-spray), a hat, bottled water, and sunglasses. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but please avoid hard liquor and glass bottles.
