Cape Fear Sportfishing is all about fishing the stunning waters of Southport. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Brandon is prepared to put you on fish.
Depending on conditions, you might hook into Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Blackfin Tuna, Vermilion Snapper, Black Seabass, Cobia, Wahoo, Amberjack, Sailfish, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Blacktip Shark, and whatever else is biting.
You'll target your catch by spinning, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites for a boost of energy when needed!
Your adventure begins aboard a 38' Center console with space for 6 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience.
Capt. Brandon will supply rods and reels for you, as well as lures. Live bait is included.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 20% tip is customary.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle! Keep in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
You can't go wrong when you bring sunblock (non-spray), sunglasses, and bottled water. Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks available on board.

6 Hour – Offshore Trip on July 24, 2026We had an incredible trip with Capt. Brandon at Cape Fear Fishing Co.! From the time we left the dock until we got back, he worked hard to put us on fish and made sure everyone had a great time. We caught king mackerel, mahi-mahi, and a great variety of bottom fish, and the action stayed steady throughout the day. Capt. Brandon is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and easy to fish with. He knew exactly where to go, kept quality gear in our hands, and was always willing to share tips to help us catch more fish. You can tell he truly enjoys what he does and wants everyone on the boat to have a successful trip. If you’re looking for an unforgettable day on the water with a captain who knows how to find fish and make the experience enjoyable, I highly recommend Capt. Brandon and Cape Fear Fishing Co. 4 Hour – Nearshore Trip - 1:00 PM on July 30, 2026 • 4 adultsCaptain Branson and Tyler were both amazing, and their boat is comfortable and well designed for a 4-6 guest adventure. The late July warmth didn’t bring any afternoon fish, but we had a great time listening to music and stories and being out on the water. I would highly recommend!!!
