Big Dog Fishing Charters is a locally-run guide service offering exciting adventures in the shallow waters of Louisiana's Lafitte Basin. Explore the local saltwater lakes, flats, bays, and backwaters in search of the area's top gamefish. Bring your friends, your family, or just yourself and get ready to catch a ton of fish!
Captain David Bourgeois is the owner of the business and runs many of the trips himself. He operates several boats in the area and can't run them all at once, though, so he has gathered together a team of the area's best guides. It may not be Capt. David who takes you out, but he guarantees it will be someone who really knows their stuff.
You will heading out on a 23' bay boat which has been custom-built to explore these winding waters without running aground. The vessel was built in 2012 and has been regularly maintained ever since to keep her in top working order. She can carry 4 guests in comfort and cruises at speed in open water, thanks to her 250 HP Mercury engine.
Anglers of any age or experience level are warmly welcome aboard. Whether you're out to catch your first fish or you're chasing your personal best after a lifetime of big hookups, the captain will work hard to give you an unforgettable day on the water.
You will be using quality light tackle and a selection of lures to bring in anything from Redfish and Trout to Flounder and Sheepshead. All necessary equipment is provided free of charge. The only thing you need to bring is a fishing license and a cooler to pack all your fish in at the end of the day. There's going to be a lot of it!

He did a masterful job of avoiding bad weather getting our limits quick and putting us on the fish. He put us on the spots with the fish and when the bit turned off he moved to the next spot where the bite was back on.

Morning Charter on September 22, 2022 • 2 adultsI’m a frequent visitor to the area but this was my hunter-fisherman husband’s first time. He asked our amazing guide, “China” to put us on big fish. We went out on the 0600 launch and I got to catch the “smaller” reds to filet & take home. He then took us out and Wowsa - we were definitely on BIG fish! For nearly 4 hours, we had fish on that were fighting and so much fun to reel in! Our arms were sore and I’ve got bruises on my hip/thigh area as these fish fight! We stopped taking pictures because we were always bringing one in. My husband was impressed and this is quite hard to do when it comes to sports fishing as he does this regularly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! And ask for China if you can get him - he’s a local who has been guiding since 1999. And he even made it into a swamp tour, getting gators to pop up.

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 7 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.
