About the Captain

Jim Rusk
Kenai, Alaska, United States
Member since March 2017
I was born in Soldotna Alaska in 1966, my parents homesteaded in Alaska in 1953 before Alaska was a state. As a young boy, I spent my summers fishing on the banks of the Kenai River and became an avid fisherman at a very young age. When I was a teen, I often worked in the summers as a bait boy on some of the first charter boats in this area. So by the time I had graduated from High school and was old enough to get my guide license, I knew that was what I wanted to do and in 1987 started Jim Rusk Fishing. As a fisherman, I enjoy all types of fishing and will always use whatever technique I feel is best to give my customers the best chance of success.

Went fishing in 1990 with Jim for the first time, had a wonderful experience, he has very good professional experience on the Kenai and other waters, he is more than a guide he is a fisherman and he takes you to catch fish not to just put in his time. Some days are slower fishing than others, but he always finds some fish. I have fished almost every year since with Jim and he never lets me down, he lives in Alaska and studies the river each spring, he is not from somewhere else and just comes there to guide during season, you won’t be disappointed fishing with Jim, can’t say enough how much he works for you to catch fish, Good luck give him a try you won’t regret it, Brian w
