We Fish in the Ocean not around the docks in the inner harbor like some of the other Gloucester charter boats! Also we don't use a rubber hose and a seaworm to try and catch fish! We use live bait on all trips if possible. Live bait increases your chances 10 fold to catch keeper striped bass! Coastal Fishing Charters brings you a variety of fishing to choose from. From Sharks offshore, to nearshore fishing for Cod and Haddock. Looking for Striped Bass? Yep, they have it too. It is our specialty! All that's left for you to do is to choose your trip!
This charter is operated by Captain Nick Danikas, who set out into the world of fishing at age 10. Since then, he has sailed back and forth, delivering goosebump on every trip. He loves to see kids reel in their first catch and has plenty of skills to assist seasoned anglers on their quest for some big game.
Hop aboard his 35' Terry Jason boat, restored in 2017, and start your search in the waters surrounding Gloucester, MA. She can accommodate up 6 anglers and is equipped with top-of-the-line navigational equipment.
This isn't just about the chase, but comfort as well. You'll also find a toilet, bed, kitchen, and multimedia system on board.
Depending on the species you target, you'll be fishing at different distances and use a variety of techniques. Bottom fishing, popping, jigging, kite, or fly fishing – you name it.
The trip rates include rods, reels, tackle, lures, and live bait. At the end of the day, your catch will be cleaned and filleted too. Make sure to bring some snacks, drinks, and sunglasses. With all the chase going around, a camera is always welcome – why miss capturing a 10' Shark?
Capt. Nick has a first mate on board to assist with everything on your trip. He works hard to make sure you have a good time and as such, a 20% gratuity will be added onto the final balance. Cash only for the balance of the trip.

They worked very hard trying to put us on strikers. With just a very short time left we landed a 26 inch. We at least hit our goal to bring a striper home to put on the grill. Nothing better than from the ocean to the grill. I highly recommend this fishing experience with Captain Nich.

5 Hour Trip (AM) – Bottom Fishing on August 21, 2018 • 6 adultsWhat an amazing time we had with Captain Nick. He placed us where the fish were hitting and we were catching so many we had to take a break to rest our arms. Cusk, Cod, Pollock, Haddock, Rockfish and a good sized shark (that got away) were being pulled into the boat as soon as we dropped the lines. We brought home almost 45 pounds of filleted fish. Captain Nick and his first mate Keith were knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful throughout the trip. They definitely made this a memorable day for us. Book this boat - I promise you won't regret it.

4H Trip (PM) – Striped Bass (2MAX) on July 15, 2017 • 4 adultsWe did a half day Striper trip with Captain Nick and his Mate Caden. It was an excellent trip. We spent the first half hour catching some live mackerel to use as bait. Which was fun and we could plenty. We then proceeded to move along the coast casting close to the rocks. Within a half hour we caught our limit of Striped Bass. The 4 fish ranged fro 29"-32". We continued to catch fish until our time was up. They filleted our fish on the way back to the dock. It was a great trip and super easy to book.

This fishing trip was awesome!!! Best 50th birthday present for my husband!! Captain Nick and First Mate Jacob were extremely knowledgeable and fantastic teachers!!! We were a little worried things might be difficult due to windy weather but they expertly found us a spot to catch mackerel for bait and then steered us over to a secret spot where it was fish on!!!! Each of us caught huge striped bass and proud to say me, the wifey, caught the biggest fish, a 43” monster!!! We all had so much fun and will never forget this once in a lifetime experience!!! Thank you Captain Nick and Jacob!!!

Trip was advertised at five hours of fishing. Actually did about 3 hours, since it took 40 minutes to get to the fishing spot and then also return trip. I've bottom fished before and it was in the bay in 30 feet of water. Not clear why we had to go out so far. Wasted some time and fuel. Caught some fish, but it was a real chore cranking in the fish from 240 feet. And just when we got our lines back at and to the bottom, the captain decided to move the bat to a better spot. We had to crank our lines back in before he could move. Imagine reeling in a line with a one-pound weight at the end that requires between 120 - 140 revolutions of the hand crank to bring it in. Quite a workout and not what we expected. And then the gratuity at the end - the captain required we tip the first mate 20%, which he claimed was in the "contract". It was in the advertisement as a not below, but was stated as a gratuity, not as a required payment. Will probably not use this boat again.
Yup you have to drive the boat to the fishing grounds! Yup it takes 45 or longer to get there! Yup we fish in 240 feet for haddock and reds! Yup all my prices include 20% tip for the mate! Everything you said is true!So I’m sorry that you didn’t do your research and can’t handle reeling a deep sea fishing rig. Deep sea isn’t fishing in 30 feet of water here in New England!
Capt. Nick and Deckmate Jacob were awesome. Capt Nick knew exaclty where to go to catch some reds and haddock. His boat was easy to find, and Jacob kept our gear operating smoothtly. I Highly suggest using them for your next trip!
I brought 2 boys age 13 on the 5 hour trip and we had a blast! From the minute we dropped our lines in we were catching fish. It was exciting! We caught a lot of cod that were fun to catch but we had to throw back (a seagull grabbed one!), but better yet, we caught 8 keeper haddock and 1 big red fish! Can't wait for dinner! Captain Nick and 1st Mate Jeff were great with me and the boys. We couldn't have asked for better help and fun. Patty
