Palapa Tours is a charter service based on Ambergris Caye that provides a diverse range of packages, going from snorkeling trips to deep sea fishing. It’s run by Captain Chip Myvett, whose enthusiasm about fishing is contagious. He and his crew will make sure you get a trip that is tailored to your individual needs and wants.
You will be fishing aboard a 30’ Bradley center console boat that’s powered by two 200 HP Yamaha engines that can have it going up to an impressive 45 knots. In addition to all the necessary safety and navigation gear, the boat also comes with a fighting chair, outriggers, as well as a livewell for your bait.
If you’re looking to catch some big game fish, then you should definitely check out Captain Chip’s deep sea fishing packages. Among the fish you will encounter are Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, and more. Those in the mood for something different can check out his spearfishing and reef fishing options which are a great option for landing lots of Grouper and Snapper.
If you’re not all that interested in fishing, but like a hands-on approach, why not go snorkeling? The sights are beautiful to behold, and you will be able to see plenty of Manatees and Seahorses.
The price includes all the necessary rods, reels, and terminal tackle, as well as light snacks and water. After the trip, anything you catch will be cleaned for your convenience. Pack a pair of polarized sunglasses, bring a camera, and you’re good to go.

Half Day Trip - Reef Fishing (AM)
Excellent hosts, fun trip!
Our group of 4 had a lovely time out with Captain Chip. Coordinated pick-up close to our hotel and they were on time. The night before we were asked to pay a slightly larger deposit ($100) than anticipated but this was taken from the final bill. On the boat, Captain Chip took us out to an artificial reef where we caught 21 fish in ~2 hours! He and his crewmate were kind and patient teaching us to fish. Also great company, they were fun people to spend time with. Water provided on the boat! When we got back to the pier near our hotel, Captain Chip & his crewmate proceeded to filet ALL TWENTY-ONE FISH for us to take home and recommended a recipe to cook fish tacos which we made and they were excellent. A great day!

Friendly, fishing enthusiastic crew!
My young son and I had a great time fishing for a half day! We caught fish and were able to fish closet to the mangroves. They went above and beyond for us and caught a conch that we are raw on the boat! The boat was in good condition and they listened to what we needed! Highly recommended!

Phenomenal Experience
My wife and I first used Chip’s services in 2017 on a snorkeling tour in which we had the unforgettable experience of swimming with nurse shark’s. Chip was professional, provided a wealth of information about the marine life in San Pedro and made sure that my wife and had a great experience. Chip’s customer centric philosophy left an impression during an excursion in 2017, there was absolutely no doubt who we would call for a fishing tour upon our return to San Pedro. Chip and his assistant Ahmen’s customer service, preparedness and patients were impeccable. My wife caught her first fish and several following, once again Chip provided us with a memory that won’t be forgotten. We would highly recommend using Chip’s services, you won’t be disappointed and get the authentic San Pedro experience with he and his team.
