About the Captain

Bruce Balsillie
Fort Resolution, Northwest Territories, Canada
I am a First Nations Aboriginal and a self-promoting angler and guide, born and raised in the Northwest Territories, Canada. My dad started this fishing gig in 1987, I was born a year after. And every season, I would be out there in Taltson with my old man, while he ran the operation handling the guest and managing camp, I was fishing. Whether it was off the dock or out fishing in the boat, I was catching and just having fun being a kid. Walleye was my favourite to catch as a kid because I couldn't yet handle the Big Girls. The largest fish I landed as a kid if I can recall, was about 47"-48" long. She was quite skinny and I have a photo. I was out fishing with my dad and brother. I began to guide when I was about 16-17 years old, and it was my area of expertise. I have been guiding and navigating Taltson and Great Slave Lake most of my life. I'm 30 years old and this is my passion!
