As January rolls along we have been enjoying some very favorable temperatures. The very strong pompano have showed up and are ready for the battle . The trout are Hungry and are feeding . The water here on the nature coast has cooled off a pinch therefor the dinner bell has started to ring . This is signal its time to come in and fatten up for the winter ahead. The trout are showing up in large numbers and are redfish still schooled up and feeding . We are also seeing a few cobia on our flats . Scalloping season has slowed down to a simmer. However the Redfish bite continues to strengthen . They are schooling up and are on the bite . I would say the bite will stay strong into September . September is when we will also see the trout begin to return from offshore. We of course are catching a few still along with our redfish . This time of year the near shore rocks are full of excitement. With every drop of a shrimp there is a pull on the line. Generally catching mangrove snapper and grunts. Btw I consider some of the best table fare out there. The bite is good . We have been working between these cold fronts and tide conditions. The usual suspects are moving a bit more to the inside. We are also starting to pick up a few sheepshead and black drum in the river. Christmas week is starting to book up' so don't lose your opportunity to experience our nature coast. Capt. Our trout bite has been steady were seeing a few s with the latest cold fronts. Whowever were still getting the job done . We have also had a somewhat steady redfish bite on the incoming tide . We have had mostly outgoing tide to work with the last 2 weeks . There are still plenty if fish to catch even with the cooling waters

The bite has been very good as it is typically this time of year . Most all of our local businesses are back up and running and there are still plenty of rental homes and hotels available. There are still some debris in the water and alot of channel markers missing or out of place so make sure you hire a well experienced captain to have safe and pleasurable trip.
