As Canada’s largest city, Toronto has a lot going for it. You’ve probably heard about its arts and culture scene, incredible food, and great people, but you may not know just how good the angling action here is. The city sits on the shorelines of Lake Ontario and boasts easy access to this bountiful waterway and more. Head out on a Toronto fishing trip and experience another facet of this vibrant city!
You’ll have plenty of fish species to choose from in both Lake Ontario and its tributaries. Chinook and Coho Salmon are the stars of the show, and coming in at a close second are Brown, Brook, and Lake Trout. You can also target a variety of Bass, Pike, Perch, Walleye, and Crappie.
If you’re coming to target a specific species, head out with a guide to make the most of your time here. This is especially true during the spring and fall Salmon runs, and full day trips are recommended. If you’re looking to get a feel for the waters and land a fish or two, half day trips are a great choice.
Toronto is a big city and, as such, there are plenty of places to wet a line. Most of the city’s charter fleet is located in Port Credit, but you can also head to Ashbridges Bay or Bluffer’s Park if you’re looking for a more central starting point. In the summertime, hop on the ferry and head to the Toronto Islands to fish with incredible views of the cityscape.

Before you set off, make sure to purchase an Ontario fishing license for all anglers between the ages of 16–64. Ontario is separated into 20 Fishing Management Zones. If you’re unfamiliar with the rules and regulations, it’s best to head out with a guide.
