Fishing in Alameda

Alameda fishing charters unlock world-class angling in California's vibrant San Francisco Bay ecosystem, where diverse habitats meet legendary catches. The iconic Alameda Rock Wall serves as a prime Halibut hotspot during early season runs, while San Francisco Bay's rich waters teem with Striped Bass, Leopard Sharks, and trophy-sized Bat Eagle Rays. Freshwater enthusiasts find paradise in nearby Lake Chabot and Oak Hill Park Pond, where Rainbow Trout and Largemouth Bass thrive year-round.

Experience unparalleled variety—from surfcasting along McNear Beach Pier to kayak fishing Berkeley Flats or trolling near Angel Island. Summer brings channel catfish plantings in regional lakes, while fall transitions to migrating salmon runs. Anglers consistently report trophy-sized Striped Bass near Alcatraz and monster Halibut patrolling Oyster Point's sandy bottoms, making every expedition unpredictable and exhilarating.

With over 25 miles of bay shoreline and productive reservoirs like Los Vaqueros within easy reach, Alameda fishing charters deliver nonstop action whether targeting feisty jacksmelt from shore or battling pelagic species offshore. This convergence of estuary ecosystems creates California's most dynamic urban fishery, where both novice and expert anglers find their perfect catch.

Alameda Fishing Seasons

January
Going after Sturgeon is the most fun you can get in January. You’ll have the best chances of catching them in San Pablo Bay.

February
Witness amazing Sturgeon acrobatics as you try to pull them closer to the boat! You can also catch Flounder and Leopard Shark.

March
Sturgeon, Flounder, and Sharks are still present in large numbers, but you’ll also notice more Striped Bass than before.

April
Striper fishing gets even better in April and you can go after them throughout the whole SF Bay. Nearshore trips can get you a good stash of Halibut.

May
To make your Striper fishing even better, let your guide take you close to the bridges in the bay.

June
Lingcod season is open, so don’t miss out! They may be ugly but their meat is very tasty. Take an inshore trip and you could land White Seabass.

July
Rockfish and Tuna are waiting for all anglers willing to leave the bay and go a few miles offshore. Take a full day trip for these targets.

August
Whether you go offshore for Tuna and Rockfish or stay in the bay for Striper, Halibut, and White Seabass, you can expect an amazing fishing trip.

September
Have you ever caught a turquoise Lingcod? Now is the time! They are unusual, rare, and, most importantly, still edible.

October
Use the last chance of the year to go after King Salmon! If you prefer fishing in the ocean, Tuna and Rockfish are still a great catch.

November
Lingcod, Halibut, and Leopard Shark are the best catches this time of year. In general, it’s more productive to fish in the bay.

December
Lots of Sturgeon can be found in the bay, so what are you waiting for?! If you like bottom fishing, Flounder is always a good choice.
