Fishing in Bourne means you’re in one of the best spots in Massachusetts. Located in the middle of Cape Cod Canal, Bourne is right between Buzzards Bay and Cape Cod Bay – it’s a fishing heaven...if you have a knowledgeable guide with you. You’ll rarely find a place like this, where you can land a 40 lb Bass from shore!
The main reason this “Big Ditch” attracts so many anglers is the Striper run. Whether you go after them from a boat or the shore, jigging the bottom or trying out a topwater bait – it’s always a challenge. To make things even more tricky, the canal has dead zones where you won’t be able to catch any fish. That’s why fishing with an experienced local guide is always a good idea.
The prime time for incredible Striped Bass action comes twice a year: in early May and mid-October. The Striper migration isn’t the only thing happening at those times – as the canal “blossoms” with fish, you can also find Mackerel, Whiting, and Herring.
If you prefer heading out to deeper water for your fishing trip, you can always explore Buzzards Bay. Book a trip up to10 hours long and target an even greater variety of fish. It all depends on how you imagined your day on the water.
