The Great Lake State is brimming with fishing potential, as its name suggests. If you're looking for an angling destination in Michigan that can give you a taste of its amazing fisheries, Bay City is the place for you. You've got the Saginaw River, Saginaw Bay, and Lake Huron at your disposal, and plenty of Bay City fishing charters to take you to the best bite.
Any freshwater game fish you can think of call these waters home, all you have to do is figure out the best time and place to target them. This is where your guides can help, of course. Walleye are by far the most popular catch, closely followed by Yellow Perch, Northern Pike, and Panfish. You can also find good numbers of Bass and Freshwater Drum (locally called Sheepshead).
Then you've got your Chinook and Coho Salmon in the summer, and let's not forget about Rainbow and Brown Trout. You can also hook into big Lake Trout here, especially if you cast your lines in the deeper sections of Lake Huron.
Your fishing exploration will be most successful if you let experienced charter captains lead the way. Trips can last as little as 3 hours, enough to get a feel of what's going on, but they go up to 7 hours, where you can explore the open waters of Lake Huron.
Bay City fishing charters usually dock at the Bay Harbor Marina on the Saginaw River, and this is where you'll meet them. There are also some guides who are located upstream from the marina.
Rules & Regulations
Before you hop on board, you'll need a valid Michigan fishing license. Even if you're going out with a charter, it's up to you to get a license before you start fishing.
