Come for the fall and spring Steelhead run and hook into the hard-fighting “silver bullet.” Chinook Salmon fishing hits its peak in October and you’re looking at hitting your limits with ease. There’s also a healthy supply of Brown, Rainbow, and Lake Trout year-round to keep things exciting.
If you’re in town during Steelhead or Chinook Salmon season, and have the time to spare, opt for a full day trip to get the most out of your experience. For a leisurely day of sight casting for Trout, a half day trip can be just as productive.
Most fishing charters launch out of the Port of Muskegon. There are ramps in Jackson Hills, North Muskegon, and Muskegon State Park to accommodate anglers coming in from all different areas.

All anglers 17 and older need to purchase a fishing license online or from a licensed DNR agent. Check up on bag limits and seasonality before heading out to ensure you’re fishing lawfully and to avoid disappointment.
