For this very reason, there are many Sam Rayburn fishing guides that specialize in putting their customers on the world-class Bass bite.

There's no better place in the whole state to cast your line for Largemouth Bass and keep reeling them in until you go back to shore. By the end of your trip, you could have more than a dozen Bass in your cooler. White Bass are can also be found all over the lake, as well as Crappie, and let's not forget about all three Catfish species (Blue, Channel, Flathead).

Top-notch fishing with comes a variety of trips that could take you to your prey. There are plenty of professionals that use their years of local fishing experience to put you on the fish. Pick a half day excursion for a quick taste of the action, spend a whole day going after trophy Bass, or book a specialized expedition and target a specific species you'd like – it's up to you.

Sam Rayburn Fishing Seasons

January

In the middle of the winter, the fishing slows down, so getting your prey's attention will require some work. Still, you can always go for a Largemouth or nice White Bass, as well as Catfish.

February

This is a good month to go after Catfish that are out and about and hungry. Whether you use nightcrawlers or stink bait, chances are, you'll have a Catfish on the line quite quickly.

March

Spring on the Sam Rayburn Reservoir brings a variety of species for you to chase. Bass fishing is solid, but you can also mix it up with some Crappie and Bream, that way you'll have plenty of fish fillets for dinner.

April

Even though fishing is open year-round on the reservoir, April marks the beginning of the peak season. Largemouth and White Bass are all in the pre-spawn mood, which means they're hungry, and Catfishing is excellent as well.

May

You can go after the star of the show that is Largemouth and White Bass, or dedicate some time to fishing for Bream and Catfish. Bream respond to worms and Catfish love frozen shrimp.

June

It's getting very warm, which means that after spawning, Bass will move to deeper waters, to stave off the heat. Want some Catfish? Use trotlines with live bait, you won't be disappointed.

July

This is one of the most productive Catfishing months. Crappie won't be able to resist well-presented minnows, especially if you work them around underwater plants. Look for Bass in the middle of the reservoir.

August

If you can handle the heat, you'll be rewarded with more Bass than you can take home. Crappie and Bream are also there for the taking, but it seems that the hungriest fish is still Catfish, ready to gulp down your live bait.

September

Do some topwater fishing early in the morning and you'll be awarded with very good Largemouth and White Bass. If you're in the mood for the most delicious fish dinner, go after Crappie using minnows.

October

This is one of the best fishing months on the Sam Rayburn Reservoir. You can target anything you'd like, and Largemouth Bass are particularly popular. You can also hit the water at night and maybe land a trophy Catfish.

November

The weather might be getting colder, but that doesn't mean that the bite is slowing down. Cast for Largemouth Bass around underwater plants and don't be surprised if you hook a couple of Crappie along the way.

December

It might be holiday season on land, but fish don't take days off. Catfish, Crappie, Bass are all swimming around, hungry, and ready to jump your bait. If you go out, you're up for a fishing treat!
