Fishing in Chokoloskee

Chokoloskee fishing guides offer anglers the excitement of exploring the northern parts of Everglades National Park. Anglers in Chokoloskee have immediate access to Chokoloskee Bay and the Ten Thousand Islands, two of the hottest fishing spots in the Everglades National Park!

Common catches in this maze of mangrove islands, flats, and rivers include Redfish, Speckled Trout, Snook, and Tarpon in early summer. The front end of Chokoloskee Bay expands this list with Sheepshead and Spanish Mackerel, which are both available in strong numbers. Continue toward the Gulf of Mexico and you'll have access to Permit, Cobia, and small Snapper and Grouper lurking around the reefs.

A typical half day charter will take you to the area's most popular grounds – Chokoloskee Bay and the Ten Thousand Islands. Extend your trip by a couple of hours and your guide will take you deeper into the jungle-like waters beyond the bay. Finally, if you're looking to cover more fishing spots and go a little bit further to some nearby wrecks, you'll likely want to set aside a full day.

Charter boats can be found all over this small island. At the northern tip of the Island, around the Fishing Hole boat ramp, you'll find charters that will have you in the bay within minutes. If you're looking to explore the waters beyond the bay, your best bet would be the marinas on the island's southwestern shore.

Rules & Regulations

If you plan on hiring a Chokoloskee charter boat, they're likely to provide a fishing license for you. Anglers fishing on their own will need to buy a Florida saltwater fishing license. Species you're able to target, catch, keep, and release vary throughout the year. Get the information before booking your trip if you have a specific target in mind.
