Fishing in Mallorca

Whether you fancy introducing the kids to a healthy outdoor activity, or fancy going after the catch of a lifetime,  fishing in Mallorca has just what you need. The largest Balearic island attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors per year to explore the Mediterranean, and what better way to make the most of it than by getting out onto it?

If you’re around the island’s capital, Las Palmas, or around the northern bays of Pollença or Alcudia, you can opt for an inshore trip. The calmer waters of the bays offer up the chance to go bottom fishing for delicious Seabream, Seabass, Dentex, and more.

Meanwhile, a trip out of any port across the island can take you to the deep waters of the “Med.” Go after monster Bluefin Tuna and Swordfish, delicious Mahi Mahi and Albacore Tuna, and a range of other tough-fighting monsters, as you go after the catch of a lifetime.

Trips can last anywhere from two hours to two days on the water, and with the option of private or shared charters, everyone can afford a trip. Take the little ones on a short trip to learn how to hold a rod and reel, bring the teenagers aboard for half a day to explore some more fishing grounds, or head out alone for a day or more on the water.

Whatever you choose, you’re in for a fun-filled fishing experience, with a local, dedicated crew looking after your every need. The island is fully geared-up to tourism, so your wish is your crew’s command. Come aboard, sit back, and enjoy fishing like never before!

Rules & Regulations

All anglers over the age of 14 need a license when fishing in Mallorca. But, thankfully for you, your charter comes with a license for all on board. Your experienced captain will be up to date on all the latest bag limits, and keep you away from any protected reserves, so you can focus on the fishing.

Mallorca Fishing Seasons

January

There’s nowhere better to escape the winter blues, as Mallorca comes alive. While the Epiphany is celebrated, the island keeps the festive feel alive with the feasts of St. Anthony and Sebastian in late January.

February

Carnival takes center stage across the island, with dazzling parades all month long, but that’s no reason to ignore the fishing. Get on the water and spice up the festival with a delicious Bream or Bass.

March

The calmer waters of the bay and nearshore are still the places to be before the season really gets going. Test your bottom fishing skills for beauties such as Dentex, Seabass, Seabream, and Amberjack.

April

There’s a sign of some more life offshore as April gets going, but you’ll still be focusing your attention nearshore. Get your practice in time before the big game season kicks off, which is just around the corner.

May

It’s finally time to go offshore, with delicious Albacore Tuna giving you the chance to test your skills and strength, and to head home with a tasty treat. Get ready for a serious fishing excursion to fill the boat.

June

Bluefin Tuna start making their way around the Balearic Islands, giving you the chance to land the catch of a lifetime. You’d better have been training during winter, as you’ll need some heavy lifting to land this beast.

July

Tourists from all over Europe flock to Mallorca in July, and with good reason. The stunning weather means it’s the best time to get in the water. Don’t forget about getting on it to target plenty of beauties.

August

Mahi Mahi join the offshore party, giving you the chance to land all of the most delicious offshore fish that pass Mallorca in summer. Go after these beauties along with Tuna, and you’re sure to head home with a treat.

September

As the number of tourists starts to decrease, there’s no sign of the fish disappearing. There’s still plenty of action offshore, while the usual shallow-water beauties will give first-timers the chance to land their first catch.

October

Things are starting to change in October, with fewer and fewer boats making their way to the deep waters. Focus your attention inshore once again, and there’s no end to how much fish you can take home.

November

Inca is the place to be, with over 200,000 people coming to visit the town’s annual festival. But don’t forget about the fishing! Swordfish are a favorite in the deep waters, with the usual suspects inshore, too.

December

See out the year in style with a productive fishing trip. Get your fish on in the nearshore and inshore waters or go after the elusive Swordfish in the deep, as you try to land a true prize for Christmas.
