Fishing in 30a

The road may now be just 25 miles long, but locals still refer to pretty much the whole Panhandle as 'just off the 30A.' From Pensacola to Fort Walton Beach, this road is the life and soul of the Emerald Coast. Renowned for its angling opportunities, it's no surprise that you'll find plenty of 30A fishing charters waiting to take you away – try not to lose concentration if you're driving!

Wherever you go off the road, you'll find the best the Panhandle has to offer. From the East Bay, through the Choctawhatchee, down to St. Andrew's and the St. Joseph Bay, there's no shortage of inshore fishing. Redfish, Trout, and Flounder can be found everywhere, while Spanish Mackerel, Pompano, Sheepshead, and even Tarpon come at different times of the year. Head further south, and a scalloping or oystering trip may be in store.

All along the road, you'll find charters ready to take you beyond the bays to the reefs and deep waters offshore. You'll find the closest fishing grounds out of Mexico Beach but, no matter where you go, you'll find a range of Snappers, Cobia, Kingfish, Amberjack, and many more. Head further out, and you can target Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and even Tuna and Billfish in the deep!

There's something for everyone when fishing along the 30A, with trips as short as two hours to the nearshore fishing grounds and as long as a few days offshore. Beginners and families can take advantage of half days, while keener anglers can get their fish on all day.

Rules & Regulations

When fishing with a charter along the 30A, your fishing license will be covered, so that's one less thing to worry about. Your professional captain will also be up to date with all the latest seasons and bag limits, so you can sit back and enjoy the fishing.

30a Fishing Seasons

January

Inshore fishing can be great this time of year. Stay close to the coast and target smaller Redfish and Trout or head out a bit farther for some Triggerfish and Flounder.

February

February can get really cold, but that doesn't mean that fishing can't be hot! Focus on Redfish and Trout in the bay, or venture out offshore for some Bonito and Mackerel.

March

Spring is almost here, and that means that it's all about sight fishing for Cobia. You can also go for Vermillion Snapper and Mackerel nearshore, or try and catch some Bonito and Sheepshead in the bays.

April

Trolling for Kingfish offshore is a must in April, while bottom fishing for Vermillion Snapper and Amberjack in the Gulf can also be unforgettable. Go out with an experienced guide and make the most of it!

May

Get ready for action, as May is the month of the abundance. Go after anything from Vermillion Snapper to Mahi Mahi, Triggerfish, Kingfish, and even Red Snapper, depending on the year's open season.

June

Summer is all about targeting the biggest offshore A-listers! Go for Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Kingfish, Bonito, and even Sailfish, if you're extra lucky. Vermillion and Lane Snapper are also abundant nearshore for a tasty treat.

July

The weather is hot, and so is the fishing action! You can target Trout inshore or venture out farther from the coast for some incredible offshore action. The sky's the limit wherever you go, so get your fish on!

August

Reef fishing is amazing this time of the year, as you can pursue Amberjack and Kingfish, among many more nearshore. Beginners can stay on the calmer waters, however, where the Redfish bite is as good as ever.

September

Summer is going nowehere, with Ladyfish, Flounder, and Spanish Mackerel being caught close to shore, while Mahi Mahi are abundant in deeper waters. Prolong your summer with a 30A adventure!

October

October can bring winds on occasion, though Redfish, Trout, and Snapper fishing is still great inshore. You can also target Grouper, Mahi Mahi, and Flounder a bit farther from the coast, so there's always something biting!

November

Attention shifts inshore come November, with Redfish, Trout, and Flounder in the bays. You can also go for Sheepshead and other delicious fish without having to worry about bumping elbows with other anglers.

December

The weather can get cold, but that doesn't mean the fishing can't be great! Try exciting bottom fishing for Grouper, or stay inshore and target Redfish. Whatever you go after, you'll have plenty to keep you on your toes.
