Bonefish Fishing in Florida

Bonefish Fishing in Florida

Bonefishing in Florida is done south of, and including, the Biscayne Bay. The Keys region, in particular, hosts some of the world's largest Bonefish, with double digit fish caught regularly during the warmest summer months.

Hotspots include:

  • Turkey Point and the Ocean Reef flats in Biscayne Bay
  • Islamorada and Marathon in the Middle Keys, down to the Bahia Honda State Park
  • Big Pine Key to Marquesas Keys in the Lower Keys, with Key West having the most guides

The Upper Keys are protected by the Everglades and so will see great numbers of Bonefish year-round, whereas the Lower Keys will see less of them during winter.

An outstanding guide in Islamorada will be captain Ted with Skins and Fins Charters.

Bonefish fishing in Florida varies slightly throughout the year. High season is March to November. Low season is January to February and December. There is no closed season.
