Great fishing trip!
Our Captain was great. He knew exactly where to take us to catch plenty of bait for our shark fishing. We then headed out to try to catch some shark. All 4 of us in our party ended up catching one each. It was a great experience and I highly recommend this charter. We will definitely book with them again our next time down here.

Fish Hook 111 w/cap’n Ty
What a wonderful day with captain Ty and mate Mike!!! Not having been to coast in 5 yrs I wanted something special to spend time with granddaughter and her boyfriend! I could not have found anything more perfect! Both Grace and Carson love fishing and capt Ty took us straight to Spanish mackerel and shark!! Beside the great fishing, conversation was most enjoyable! You made our day a real joy!! Thank you! We will be back, so worth the trip!

Captain Chris is amazing
We went for the 3 hour trip. It was fun and amazing. He put us on a bunch of fish. We caught around 30 fish between the 4 of us. If a spot went cold he took us to a different location. He played whatever music we wanted. Had some great conversation. Would definitely book again if around the area again.

Great day on the water with a great crew
5/5
Captain was very helpful and responsive to all of our questions before the trip. Once on the boat everything was as promised. The fishing was great. We were interested in flounder and thanks to Captain Perry and his mate JP we caught our share. All in all a great day on the water with some really nice people.

We took our 3 kids out with A-Bomb and we all caught fish through out the trip, and a decent variety of catch too which kept it interesting. Highly recommend for families!

About Dogfish fishing

Size
2-3 feet
Food Value
Good
Game Quality
Low

There may be no Shark more plentiful on this planet than the Dogfish Shark. To be precise, this family of relatively small Sharks consists of 72 different species, but when most people talk about Dogfish they’re usually referring to Squalus acanthias, a.k.a. Spiny Dogfish. This particular species goes by many names, including Spurdog, Skittle Dog, Dog Shark, Common Spiny Fish, Spotted Spiny—you get the idea. This little guy may even hold the record for most aliases in the English language!

How big?

Spiny Dogfish typically grow to be 2-3 feet long and rarely weigh more than 20 lbs. The IGFA record for Pacific Spiny Dogfish is 12 lbs., while the all tackle record for Smooth Dogfish is 37 lbs 8 oz. Some species are significantly smaller, which makes a few of them the smallest Sharks in the world. While these tiny, toothy trinkets might look fun to hold, don’t get carried away—the spines on their backs are mildly venomous to humans!

Where and When

Dogfish are widely distributed throughout the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Some species live in shallow waters, while others inhabit the deep. You might hook into these fish at any time, usually when you’re trying to catch something much more desirable!

Spiny DogfishSpiny Dogfish are the most well-known of the Dogfish species

How to Catch Dogfish

The best Dogfish fishing method you can use is to focus on catching something else. It’s common to pull up one of these little guys while bottom fishing, and most anglers consider them a nuisance. Leave it to a Dogfish to snatch a bait and tear a net while you’re trying to fish for dinner! It’s not all bad news, though: these Sharks can also make excellent table fare.

Good to Eat?

Indeed! These Sharks have many hidden benefits, including flavorful meat and rich oils. People commonly use them for food, liver oil, fertilizer, and more. In the U.K., Dogfish are a great substitute for Halibut in fish ‘n’ chips, because their moist fillets dry out less when you fry them.
