Your Fishing Charter

Have a fun and memorable experience with a great crew aboard Southern Run Fishing Charters! You won’t know where to head first when it comes to fishing in Willmington, but Captain Ben Morris specializes in epic offshore adventures. He’ll do his best to put anglers of all skill levels on the big fish!

Your vessel for the day is a 32' Yellowfin center console that can fit up to 6, but for comfort reasons the ideal is 4 customers. She’s a dry, fast and very comfortable boat with great seating and plenty of room to relax during a long day of fishing. Equipped with 2 300 HP Yamaha engines, this smooth ride will get you to the fish fast, increasing your fishing time and productivity. 

Light line trolling is a recipe for success when it comes to hooking nearshore species like Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, and Bonita. On longer offshore trips you'll also have your shot at Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi and the occasional Blue or White Marlin. In this range, bottom fishing for Grouper, Snapper, and delicious Seabass is super productive too! No bottom fishing for groups larger than 4.

All of your gear, including top-notch rods, reels, and tackle are waiting on board when you arrive. Capt. Ben is also happy to clean and fillet your catch at the end of the trip for easy transport home. What you will want to bring are any drinks and snacks you’d like to enjoy, as well as sun protection.

Head out bright and early for a 4-hour nearshore fishing adventure! You'll combine trolling and drift fishing for an exciting day of targeting Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Bonito, and big Shark. In the fall months, there's also plenty of King Mackerel to hook. All of your gear is included, just be sure to pack any drinks and snacks you'd like to enjoy.

4 Hour Trip (AM)

During this trip, you’ll have a range of around 15-20 miles. We’ll be mainly slow trolling for king mackerel, barracuda, cobia, and the occasional mahi. We will also live bait fish over some wrecks if live bait is available to get.

6 Hour Trip

With this trip your range is extended out to around 30 miles weather permitting. We will be in more productive waters for slow trolling, bottom fishing and wreck fishing for species such as King Mackerel, Grouper, Snapper, Mahi Mahi, Amberjack, Barracuda and big keeper Black Sea Bass (sea bass mainly during the winter months)

8 hour Trip

On this full day excursion you'll be running anywhere from 40-60 Miles offshore depending on the target species. We mainly fish in the deep waters of the gulf stream with both live and dead bait in anywhere from 100 to 250 feet of water with heavy tackle. Our main targets are usually big grouper, a variety of snapper species, Triggerfish and African Pompano. Out here the fish pull harder and grow larger so make sure you have the right crew!

12 Hour Bottom Trip

Our personal favorite trip. We will be running about 55-60 miles out to the gulfstream to troll with heavy tackle for Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi and Sailfish. This trip can be great year round and is also very good in the winter months for Wahoo and Tuna. We will also do a little bottom fishing on this trip if the trolling is slow.
