Your Fishing Charter

“Kids welcome and adults tolerated” is the motto of FishGH and what it is all about. This charter company has been a family business on the boardwalk at Chinook Pier Grand Haven since 1984 and continues the tradition today. They believe that kids are the future and offer family-friendly adventures on Lake Michigan.

Whether you are planning that getaway fishing trip, a summer vacation with your family and friends, or even want to entertain corporate clients, FishGH and the Grand Haven area are all ready for you.

You will be fishing aboard the Danel, a 33’ Trojan boat. She provides a very stable trolling platform and more comfort than the 30’ boats in the area. Built back in 1985, she was overhauled in 2020 and can cruise at a top speed of 30 knots thanks to her twin 350 HP Crusader engines.

Danel can comfortably accommodate up to 6 anglers and is rigged with modern electronics and technologies to save your time while searching for a big one. Her top-notch GPS and fishfinder build up a clear image of where the fish are hiding.

On your day out, you will be trolling for Chinook and Coho Salmon, along with Steelhead, Brown Trout, and Lake Trout. All trips include the use of quality rods, reels, and lures, as well as the assistance of the first mate, who works for tips. Just bring a valid Michigan fishing license, your food, drinks, and hop onboard. The only thing that’s missing is you!

The crew also participates in the Catch and Cook program that allows you to bring your catch to select local restaurants. Just let the captain know that you’d like to take part in the program.

This is the trip for the angler who would like the best opportunity possible.  This 7-hour all-day trip departs at 5:30 a.m. and has a 2-hour extended time versus our other trips. This trip provides the best opportunity for success. Just make sure to pack your lunch or snack!

Combo boat ride / fishing from Grand Haven Harbor to Lake Michigan. We depart from Chinook Pier towards Lake Michigan. You will get to see the Big Lake Lighthouse and even get to put a rod in to catch a fish. The fishing portion of this trip would target freshwater drum, pike, catfish, bass and species other than Salmon and Trout. Great for families. This quick 1-hour trip will let you see the harbor and lake and try your luck at catching various types of fish.

1 Hour–Lighthouse/Pier Fishing Tour

This is a fun evening 2 hr. trip for friends and family that would enjoy a relaxing boatride and fishing tour.  We travel up the Grand River on a tour and troll for anything that bites along the way.  It is possible to catch freshwater drum, northern pike, catfish, bass and possibly even a salmon during the fall run!  This trip does not specifically target salmon and trout like our longer offshore options but that doesnt mean its not a great time!  Especially great for people prone to seasickness and kids

2 hr. Lighthouse/pier fishing tour

This is a great trip for any group that prefers a later departure time. The afternoon trip allows for a little more sleep and time for lunch before the trip begins. It is often a bit warmer temperature as well this time of day. This is a favorite for families with young children.

4 Hour Trip – Economy Weekday (PM)

This is a 4-hour economy mid-day trip designed for customers that would enjoy time boating on Lake Michigan as much as they would catching fish.  This trip is a great option for those that may want to sleep in have some lunch and then enjoy the midday sun and fishing on the big lake!  You will have the same opportunity to catch salmon and trout but this is a shorter duration trip and not during prime morning fishing hours.

4 Hour Trip – Economy Weekend

This is a standard 5-hour weekday trip Monday-Thursday which is great for any angler no matter the age or expertise. You will be targeting Salmon and Trout on Lake Michigan. We love to bring families on a fishing adventure and are kid-friendly. Our boat is always clean and has a few bathrooms aboard.

5 Hour Fishing Trip – Weekday (AM)

There is nothing better than spending your afternoon out on the water, Have a family gathering on Lake Michigan or bring aling friends or colleagues and make lifetime memories catching the fish of a lifetime!  We will be fishing for Salmon and Trout.  All fish caught are edible and will be cleaned and bagged at the end of your trip.   Our boats are fully equiped with tackle, safety gear and full size clean bathrooms.

5 hr Fishing trip - Weekday (PM)

This is by far our most popular fishing trip. This trip is excellent for a group of avid fishermen or ladies. A great option for families, friends, or colleagues. This is a weekend morning trip to the mighty Lake Michigan, where you will be trolling during prime fishing hours for Chinook Salmon, Steelhead, Coho Salmon, Lake Trout, and Brown Trout.

There is nothing better than spending your afternoon out on the water, especially after a tiring week at work. Have a family gathering on Lake Michigan and make lifetime memories catching the fish of a lifetime!  We will be fishing for Salmon and Trout.
