There’s a fish with your name on it in Wanchese and Outer Banks Outdoors will help you catch it! Captain Matt has been guiding duck hunters and fishing the waters of the Outer Banks for the last 25 years from the back bays of the Currituck Sound to the Gulf Stream.  

His love for hunting, fishing, surfing, and the outdoors brought him to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for a summer and he never left! He found his home in a truly year-round sportsman paradise!  He lives on the Outer Banks with his wife and son and looks forward to spending the day on the water with you! 

Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Black Drum, Flounder, Sheepshead, Speckled Trout, Redfish, and anything else that bites. On these trips, it’s common to troll and bottom fish using light tackle.

You’ll be casting lines from a 25’ Parker walkaround with space for up to 6 passengers. The East Way is perfect for shallow water fishing on the Outer Banks. She has state-of-the-art Garmin electronics with radar and side-view sonar. The 300hp Suzuki outboard is mounted on a porta bracket for the shallow water Trout and Drum fishing our sounds are known for. 

All the essentials needed are provided by the boat. Rods, reels, and tackle are included, along with lures and your fishing license for the day! It’s recommended to bring sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), drinks, and food.  Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid glass bottles.

2.5-hour kid-friendly family adventure in the sound.  This trip is focused on families with kids that want to have some fun!  Kids will be in the action with rods in hand bottom fishing.  If you don't want to fish you can also make this trip into a sightseeing adventure touring the Outer Banks islands and marshes.  We almost always see dolphins swimming along with a variety of birds flying overhead.

This is an excellent trip for families with kids. The sightseeing is a bonus!

4 Hour Trip – Inshore (Midday)

Fishing in the sound around bridges, flats, and marsh edges. There are many species of fish in our area to target! Red Drum, Black Drum, Grey Trout, Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, Flounder, and many more. This trip is in the sound/inlet, so generally, calmer water can be found. This is an excellent trip for families with kids. The sightseeing is a bonus!

4 Hour Trip – Inshore (PM)

Same as a 4-hour trip, but with more time to allow us to check out some different spots we can't get to on our 4-hour trips. This trip gives us more time to venture into the ocean for some wreck fishing and a chance to catch Cobia and the Big Drum!

6 Hour Trip – Inshore (AM)

Basically same as a 4-hour trip with more time to allow us to go check out some different spots we can't get to on our 4-hour trips. This trip gives us more time to venture into the ocean for some wreck fishing and a chance to catch Cobia and the Big Drum!

6 Hour Trip – Inshore (PM)

Full-day (8-hour) trips are 100% customizable. We can mix it up and fish in the sound for Trout, Drum, Sheepshead, Flounder, etc. then venture into the ocean for some Wreckfish, Amberjack, Triggerfish, Black Seabass, Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Cobia, or Mahi when the conditions are right.
