Your Fishing Charter

Spend the day with Captain Hagen of Calypso Charters and get hooked on fishing in Bonaire! Whether you're an experienced angler or it's your first time salt-water fishing, Captain H and his crew will make sure you have a great time. 

With more than 25 years experience living and fishing on Bonaire, the Calypso team knows the island and its waters inside-out. 

You'll be fishing from our 28' Mako center console that carries up to 6 guests. This beauty is purpose-built for salt-water fishing, with wide walk-throughs on each side of the helm and spacious fore and aft areas that are obstruction-free, giving you total fishing freedom. It also has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without, including a live bait well and two insulated/iced fish storage lockers to keep the catch fresh. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, along with lures and live bait.

Great Barracuda, Wahoo, Bonito, Caribbean Queen Snapper, Blackfin Tuna, Skipjack, Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and more are in the cards if you cast your line at the right time of year. Trolling, jigging, and deep-water drops are all possible on your trip.

Fishing is a family affair with Calypso, for guests and crew alike. First Mate Florian "Flo" is Captain H's son, and is there to ensure your trip runs smoothly. When Flo can't make it, his good friend Toto fills in. Both men grew up fishing Bonaire's waters and love to share their knowledge and insights with guests.

And don't worry about going hungry or thirsty on board (no "bring your own" approach with us). Soft drinks, bottled water, sandwiches, and snacks are included on every trip. So is ice-cold beer. After all, you can't celebrate a great catch without a cold one.

What you should bring for your personal comfort is sunglasses, sun-protection clothing, and seasickness medication, as needed.

This trip is a great way to wrap up your day on the island. We'll meet at the dock at 3:00 pm, then head out to troll and jig for wahoo, barracuda, and tuna. We'll return a bit after sunset.

On board, you'll find plenty of cold drinks, sandwiches, and snacks - because you can't fish on an empty stomach.

Meet at the dock at 5:00 am. It's an early call time, but fishing around the island at sunrise can't be beat. We'll do a mix of deep drops, jigging, and trolling. The goal? Hooking wahoo, barracuda, red snapper, and tuna.

We bring plenty of cold drinks, sandwiches, and snacks - because you can't fish on an empty stomach. The cooler is large enough should you wish to bring extra.

You should bring sunglasses, sun-protection clothing, and motion sickness medicine, if needed.

5 Hour Trip (AM)

Spend more time on the water and boost the chances of a big haul. This six-hour trip gives us more time to check out a variety of

Bonaire's topography makes great fishing possible anywhere, from just off the coast to the deep blue. Trolling, jigging, and deep drops are all on the agenda. The focus is on Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and other pelagics in the area at the time.

We also bring plenty of cold drinks (soft drinks, bottled water, beer) and sandwiches, because you can't fish on an empty stomach.

6 Hour Trip (AM)

This is our "Go Big or Go Home" trip. Eight full hours prowling the near- and off-shore waters of Bonaire's west coast.

Great fishing is possible everywhere here, so there's lots of opportunity. Trolling, jigging, and deep drops are all on the agenda. The focus is on Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Queen Snappers, and other prize catches.

We bring plenty of cold drinks, snacks, and sandwiches. You bring sunglasses, sun-protective clothes, and motion sickness medicine, if needed.
