Calypso Fishing Charters Bonaire
Whether you're an experienced angler or it's your first time salt-water fishing, Captain H and his son, Flo, will make sure you have a great time.
With more than 25 years experience living and fishing on Bonaire, the Calypso team knows the island and its waters inside-out.
You'll be fishing from our 28' Mako center console that carries up to 6 guests. This beauty is purpose-built for salt-water fishing, with wide walk-throughs on each side of the helm and spacious fore and aft areas that are obstruction-free, giving you total fishing freedom. It also has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without, including a live bait well and two insulated/iced fish storage lockers to keep the catch fresh. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, along with lures and live bait.
Great Barracuda, Wahoo, Bonito, Caribbean Queen Snapper, Blackfin Tuna, Skipjack, Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and more are in the cards if you cast your line at the right time of year. Trolling, jigging, and deep-water drops are all possible on your trip.
Fishing is a family affair with Calypso, for guests and crew alike. First Mate Florian "Flo" is Captain H's son, and is there to ensure the correct lures are set out and to help guide you reel the prize fish into the boat. When Flo can't make it, his good friend Toto fills in. Both men grew up fishing Bonaire's waters and love to share their knowledge and insights with guests.
And don't worry about going hungry or thirsty on board (no "bring your own" approach with us). Soft drinks, bottled water, and sandwiches are included on every trip. We'll even have a few ice-cold beers on hand. After all, you can't celebrate a great catch without a cold one.
What you should bring for your personal comfort is sunglasses, sun-protection clothing, and seasickness medication, as needed.
Treat yourself to a day on the water with Calypso Fishing Charters, and discover how much fun fishing on Bonaire can be.

Captain Hagen and his son, Flo, the first mate, made my daugter and I feel like expert anglers—giving us excellent advice with how to use live bait and telling us interesting things about the island. And we caught barracuda! My daughter hauled in one that was more than four feet long. Amazing. Captain Hagen cleaned two of our smaller fish for us to cook, and told us he helps feed a local family with the catches that customers don't take. We highly recommend Calypso.

Hi Guys. thanks again for joining us and for leaving us a lovely review. so happy you enjoyed your catch. Looking forward to another adventure. H & F
Captain Hagen is the best! His goal is for you to relax and have fun. It was our 2nd time to fish with Captain Hagen and will definitely go with him again! My wife and another couple (our friends) fished for 6 hours on the morning trip and we caught wahoo and rainbow runners. Highly recommend the morning trips - greater chance of landing these trophy fish! And the sandwiches were great, too! Thank you again Captain Hagen!

Hi Guys, thank you for joining us for a second time and what a great day it was on the water. We appreciate your kind words as it was a pleasure catching some great fish with you. Looking forward to taking you guys out on your next adventure to Bonaire. H & F
All 4 of us caught good size Barracudas, that the Captain cleaned and filleted for us. we were able to take back to our resort and make a delicious dinner. Whole trip was pleasant and we highly recommend. we were an adult family of 4 parents and 2 daughters. if you want to be very active while fishing maybe not for you as they did everything but bring the catch in for us!!!

Hi Guys, thanks so much for your kind words. It was a lot of fun taking you out on a fishing adventure and catching some lovely fish. Looking forward to our next adventure. H & F
captain/crew was knowledgeable, very kind,helpful/patient with kids . caught a small tuna and hooked a wahoo but lost it .Kids and wife loved the overall experience and had a great time .

Hi Guys, thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure having you all on Calypso and sharing stories. So pleased the kids had fun. Yes it was shame that the Wahoo had different ideas to ours. Next time. H & F
Our 5 family members joined Capt and his son for great day on the water. 2 wahoos and a trigger fish. Capt was friendly and made us feel welcome. Chatted with us the whole trip, about Bonaire, fishing, life on the island. Will definitely fish with Calypso again on out next trip here

Hi Guys. We are grateful for your kind words. so looking forward to taking you guys out again for another adventure. H & F
The Angler's Choice Award is given to listings that consistently deliver a high-quality service and earn great reviews from customers.
Captain Hagen has lived on Bonaire for nearly three decades. He's a Coast Guard-certified boat captain, 25-year PADI dive instructor (Emergency First Responder-certified), and professionally trained chef. That last credential might come in handy if you fancy a sea-to-table dinner after a successful fishing trip (we can arrange that). He's been handling boats since he was a kid and fishing just as long. He grew up helping his dad fish the waters around Guernsey, a UK island off the coast of France. Since 1999, he's been captaining boats on Bonaire. His priority on every trip is to ensure your total enjoyment while maintaining the highest safety standards, whether conquering heavy seas in search of a trophy catch, exploring coastal reefs with a snorkel and mask, or toasting another spectacular Caribbean sunset.
