Your Fishing Charter

New engines for 2022. Quiet and low emissions!

Join them aboard their 41’ custom Hatteras offshore sport fishing boat, originally built in 1968. She’s been fully refitted in 2017, so you can fish from a fusion of time-tested strength and modern comforts. A flybridge, fighting chairs, livewell, outriggers, and advanced navigation and fishfinding systems are all present on board, to make sure that you have every advantage possible when going after that dream catch.

Captain James Byrd will be your guide and instructor on this charter. Whether you’re a first-time angler or a seasoned sea wolf, he can accommodate you and your fishing taste. You can choose from a large variety of fish species to go after, ranging from Bluefish, Tilefish, Black Seabass, Grouper, and such, all the way to the Blue Marlin, Yellowfin, and Bluefin Tuna (depending on the time of year), Shark, Mackerel and more!

The charter will provide you with all the necessary equipment for a range of different fishing techniques, like bottom fishing, trolling, drift fishing, jigging with light and heavy tackle, as well as kite fishing for the more adventurous. The captain and first mate will work hard to ensure your fishing adventure with Hitman Sportfishing is a pleasant and memorable experience, so gratuity is appreciated.

This trip will take you fishing to the Oregon Inlet. You can either troll along the coastline for Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Bonito, or bottom fish for Flounder, Croaker, and similar. At certain times in the year, you can spot Cobia. We may also stay inside the inlet and fish the channels both trolling and bottom fishing.

This afternoon trip will take you to Oregon Inlet. You will then either troll along the beach for Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Bonito, etc., or bottom fish for Flounder, Trout, Croaker, etc. It's up to you what you want to go for. The charter provides all required equipment. We may also stay inside the inlet and fish the channels both trolling and bottom fishing.

On a 6-hour trip, you will have more time for fishing and increase the species you can target depending on conditions and time of year. You can expect to target fish such as False Albacore, Spanish Mackerel, Bonito, Bluefish, and maybe even occasional King Mackerel. If conditions permit, we sometimes are able to do bottom fishing. It does not target gulf stream species.

3/4 Day Trip – Nearshore (AM)

On a 6-hour trip, you will have more time for fishing and increase the species you can target depending on conditions and time of year. You can expect to target fish such as False Albacore, Spanish Mackerel, Bonito, and Bluefish, and maybe even do occasional King Mackerel trolling. If conditions permit, you will also do some bottom fishing. This trip does not go to the gulf stream.

3/4 Day Trip – Nearshore (PM)

On an 8-hour trip, you will focus on nearshore fishing that may include trolling for Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, and/or Cobia depending on the time of year. We may choose to venture a little further off the beach or down the beach with a fuel surcharge We bottom fish for Tilefish and Seabass, troll for King Mackerel, and or go to a tower for Amberjack at times. It is not a gulf stream trip. Departure times are flexible.

Full Day Trip

On a Gulfstream full day trip, you venture out 40 miles to the waters of the Gulfstream. There you seek to find Yellowfin Tuna, Bigeye Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, Mahi, Sailfish, White Marlin, Blue Marlin, and anything else that may bite the hook. Typical departure times are discussed with the client but will usually be around 5:00 a.m. You typically return in the late afternoon or whenever the boat is full!
