Captain Mackie Bellott will take you on an unforgettable journey through the untouched waters of Louisiana’s backcountry where you will be targeting some impressive species that hide below the surface. But beware, for it is said the legendary Kraken lurks beneath these waters!

Your boat for the day will be a 22’ Triton bay boat, powered by a 200 HP Yamaha engine. It comes equipped with a fishfinder, GPS, wireless trolling motor, and necessary safety gear. The captain can take up to 5 guests at a time, including kids ages 7 and up. Something fun that he likes to do when taking kids on board is making them his first mate for the day. They absolutely enjoy this and end up falling in love with fishing after the trip!

Capt. Mack offers a number of different fishing experiences based on whatever your preferences are. You’ll mainly be fishing in the Mandeville, Slidell, and Lake Catherine areas where you’ll be using light tackle to troll, spin, or bottom fish for species like  Redfish, Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, and many more. Top-quality Duckett and Penn rods and reels are provided for you on each trip, as well as lures.

Over the past few years, these charters have become so popular that National Geographic has decided to feature the famous “Kraken Hunt” in a documentary that aired in April 2019. These expeditions are offered from their other listing location, across Lake Pontchartrain where there are lots of Alligator Gar and Bull Shark.

Capt. Mack is one of the humblest people you will meet. His aim is always to provide customers with the best and most affordable fishing experience while teaching people about sustainable fishing practices. Targeting the largest fish the area has to offer! This trip targets drag screaming monsters as we search for the Lake Pontchartrain Kraken. This trip is a total blast and many people catch the largest fish of their lives on this trip! Primarily catch and release.

The Kraken Hunt (Morning)

On this trip, you will target the Lake Pontchartrain Kraken, a mythical monster that has been snapping fisherman's rods around the Lake! Captain Mackie will take you to the feeding grounds, and help you and your crew reel in all sorts of beasts. You will be targeting Alligator Gar, Redfish and the infamous Lake Ponchatrain Bull Shark! This trip is predominately catch and release but the captain will clean whatever you'd like to bring back home – that is, if you can escape the Kraken!
