Join Heavy Hitter and score a home run with Captain George Smith, aboard his 37’ Bertram sportfisher built for serious fishing.Once you hit the open waters, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the classic Bertram ride. Cape May, NJ is perhaps one of the most underrated fishing destinations in the US and provides some of the best action for anglers of all levels of experience.

The captain’s boat is just the vessel you want for an offshore excursion. She comes fully stocked with state-of-the-art navigational systems and electronics, outriggers and downriggers, a flybridge, private head, bed, and kitchen. She’s also wheelchair accessible, equipped with all necessary safety equipment, and safe for children of all ages. The captain can take up to 6 people per trip and each person can fish at the same time. 

Once you reach the offshore fishing grounds, you’ll be trolling/chunking for a range of pelagics, such as White Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Yellowfin, and Bluefin Tuna. For your inshore trips, Capt. George will take you on an epic battle against some hard-fighters like Striped Bass, Bluefish, and Back Drum. Some other species you can target include Spanish Mackerel, Black Seabass, and Triggerfish as well. Each trip includes top-quality Penn and Shimano rods and reels, live bait, lures, and a first mate to assist you with anything you need.

Gear into action and get ready for Heavy Hitter Sportfishing to show you what big game fishing is all about! Your fishing license is included in the trip, so you can focus more on the fishing and less about the logistics. This trip is perfect for the family and especially the kids! You'll spend 2 hours traveling to and from your fishing destination, and 2 full hours of trolling. Your main target species is Bluefish, but you can also target many more including Striped Bass, Spanish Mackerel, and Black Seabass. Just sit back, relax, and let Capt. George show you a good time!

4 hr afternoon trip: 1 PM - 5 PM trolling for Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, and Bonita.

6 hr inshore trolling trip targeting  bluefish and false albacore.

3/4 6hr inshore trolling trip.

This is a 6hr trip for those looking to fish longer but not all day. With this trip you can bottom fish / troll or make it a combo trip.

3/4 day trip

You will be fishing 30-40 mile wrecks and reefs for big seabass. Note: the season is set by the State the dates are tentative.

Deep Water Seabass (Spring)

You will be fishing deep water wrecks and reefs 30-40 miles offshore for big Seabass and Porgies. Note: the season is set by the State so the dates are tentative.

Deep Water Seabass (Fall)

This is a trolling trip that will take you 25 to 30 miles offshore to fish in 20 fathoms (120ft) of water. You'll be mainly targeting Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and King Mackerel but don't be surprised if even a Tuna shows up!

Full Day Trip – Trolling

This is an inshore tuna trolling trip targeting bluefin tuna. You may also encounter  bonita, mahi, spanish mackerel and bluefish. You will be fishing inshore 20-30 miles on lumps. This is usually a 8hr trip leaving at 5:00 am may be subject to leave earlier if necessary. This is a trip for those not wanting to spend all day tuna fishing

Inshore Tuna Trolling - Bluefin

This trip is ideal for all you anglin' fin-atics out there! You'll travel up to 70 miles from shore to go fishing along the Atlantic Continental Shelf. Get ready for an offshore showdown, trolling and chumming for Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna, as well as Mahi Mahi, White Marlin, and Wahoo. This is a 12-hour trip, so be sure to bring some food and drinks, as well as comfortable clothing, and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!
