I took my boyfriend on this trip for his 40th birthday. Even though the captain previously had trouble with his boat, he drove seven hours each way to obtain a boat and make sure we had something for our charter. Captain Ed and his first mate Ian were so incredibly knowledgeable about everything! My boyfriend is a long time fisherman from New Jersey, and even he was impressed by the equipment and their knowledge. I don’t particularly enjoy fishing, but I had a great time. We even saw a pretty big pod of dolphins. I can’t thank them enough for making his 40th birthday surprise such an amazing success!!’

Brought my dad down for his birthday and we had an absolute blast. We kicked off the day with what we thought was a tuna that nearly spooled us before eventually breaking off. After that we started trolling and picking off mahi one by one and before we knew it we had 8 in the boat. We were feeling pretty good about the day already, but things were just getting started.

Not long after, my dad hooked into another mahi. While Ian, our first mate, reeled in the other rod he hooked into one as well. As I was reeling mine in I started seeing flashes of blue and green all around us and that is when we realized we were in the middle of a big school. Dad flipped his into the boat and I left mine in the water to keep the school close. Then all hell broke loose. The bite went off and in the next 15 minutes we put 7 more in the boat, giving us a total of 17 mahi.

If my story is not enough to convince you to book with Captain Ed I do not know what is. He will find the fish and keep you on them and both he and Ian will work their tails off to make your trip unforgettable. On top of that they have great taste in music, which makes it even better. I cannot thank you both enough for the memories my dad and I made that will last a lifetime!

The day started badly as Captain Ed’s Live Shrimp delivery never made it to him. We waited but it never arrived.
Captain Ed pivoted, and decided to switch to offshore fishing, and trolling instead.
The fish were not really biting for the first 2 1/2
Hours. Captain Ed then decided to take us to The Hump, 25 miles offshore to make sure we caught some fish. He extended the trip from a 4 hour 1/2 day, to a 7 hour trip without charging us any additional monies.
He felt that he needed to make us happy about our fishing trip.
Going to the hump 25 miles away produced Several large tunas and over 25 Mahi !
Some were not big enough and had to be let back into the water. However, Captain Ed made it a day to remember.

He was outstanding as well, and extremely friendly and helpful. Great Mate !

The weather wasn’t cooperating for great fishing weather (fairly windy), so we weren’t able to go to the location that was planned and instead headed to a location where it was not as rough.  Unfortunately, with the tide going out, we had a bit more difficulty catching appropriately sized fish.

Captain Ed and Mike worked their hardest to keep us catching fish, but even though we were catching fish, many were not keepers (size wise or species related).

Fishing is fishing, and they don’t always bite as well as you want them to, but I couldn’t expect any more from this experience as everything was done to give us the best opportunity to catch fish (including extending the trip to give us as much time as possible before sunset.)

From my perspective, we all had a good time, caught many species of fish and did have enough to take home for a tasty dinner.  And while the captain felt bad that we didn’t catch as much as we were hoping for, he and his son were entertaining and engaging and just pleasant people to meet.  I wouldn’t hesitate to go back and use them again.

Ed spent a whole day to get a replacement for his broken boat to make our trip happen.
Both explained those helpful little tricks to my son and me. They showed us where and how to catch fish: so after a fantastic day we got back with a great catch: 6 mahi-mahi and 1 tuna.
What a delicious meal!
