- I'm Captain Mark, and I’ve been chasing trophy fish across North and Central America since I was 12 years old and sportfishing for over 50 years. Caught Peacock Bass in Panama; Groupers, Red Snapper, and Tarpon in Florida; Musky, Pike, Walleye, and Smallmouth Bass in Canada; Walleye, Steelhead, and Perch on Lake Erie; as well as Brown Trout, Lake Trout, and King Salmon on Lake Ontario. I bought my 35’ Viking Sport Cruiser 4 years ago and have been targeting trophy Walleye and Steelhead across Lake Erie. I want to share my passion for fishing with others, and I particularly enjoy teaching charters.
- Techniques
- Trolling is the best way to catch Walleye and Steelhead on Lake Erie in numbers. We fish using big planer boards, which allow us to spread out the lines 200’ on either side of the boat, as well as downrigger’s which allow us to get lines deep. We will run 10-14 lines depending on the # of fishermen onboard. We use state of the two state of the art Simrad chart plotters and sonar and fish hawk temperature probes to find the sweet spots of where and how deep to fish. I also will cast and jig on request depending on the season.
