We did a family trip to Alaska and salmon fishing was top on the list of adventures.  We fished with Robert at Scout Lake Adventures. Robert supplied all of the gear we needed. We went out in his boat and found a spot along the river bank. None of us had been salmon fishing before, Robert was patient and showed us the proper way to cast for salmon. Within minutes we were reeling in Sockeye Salmon. Our half day fishing trip did not disappoint.  When finished Robert took us to another part of the river to see some Bald Eagles before returning to the dock. Robert cleaned our fish for us and stored it so that we could pick it up towards the end of our time in Alaska. Robert and his deck hand were fantastic. He went through so much during the planning process to get out at the perfect time during our visit to Alaska. He even called me to tweak the schedule due to a cold and rainy day. He was willing to go in the rain but allowed for a different time on a sunny day. We caught some beautiful fish. He provided everything we needed except a fishing license. After the trip, he even processed the the fish and hooked us up with everything needed to fly back home with the fish. After over a year of planning this trip, today was our first fishing adventure. Background: My boyfriend is an avid fisherman and my son (30 yr old with ASD) also enjoys it. This has been a big planning process/project for my son and I and was part of his yearly waiver program. My biggest concern was how my son Scott would do on this trip. While he enjoys fishing, it can be difficult when you are 30 but socially more like a 9-year-old - sometimes people don’t get it or allow you the time needed to process, then add in the focus piece lol.

Captain Robert was fantastic! He spoke respectfully and asked Scott what he liked or was willing to do, got him on fish, and explained what the rules were, but best of all treated him like a 30-year-old guy who wanted to fish! He gave clear instructions and waited as Scott processed the information or formulated questions. That doesn’t always happen. Scott fished for almost 4 hours before he started to get antsy and then stood ready on the net - only losing one in the process lol. Captain Robert took it all in stride, even when Scott decided to make up a fishing conga dance in hopes of getting more fish.

What a fabulous day and I can’t wait until we go again on Monday morning! Thank you so much Captain Robert - you are amazing!

We called captain Robert the day before because some plans changed. He took our family of four out on an inland lake and we had a great time. Would definitely recommend!

We had a very relaxing time on the Kenai today. The quiet boat ride was great. Everyone on our crew limited out about 3-4 hours in. Robert knows where the fish are, cares about his clients, and we would certainly do this again. He even gave other anglers not in our group hints on where to find fish. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t find any fish in the first hour or two - if he’s bringing you out, you can be pretty confident you’ll catch something.
