His friends know Captain Michael Tester as Mike. He's very personable and friendly, with vast experience fishing these waters since the '80s. He is a dedicated father of 2, a proud 'papaw,' happily married, and an all-around family guy. Fishing started as a hobby, became his passion, and it's now his obsession. He turned his hobby into a career, and if you ask him, all he does is fish, and he'll never work another day of his life. His love for fishing was instilled by his father, Captain Austin Tester, who was a well-known charter captain for years with EB's Pride Charters.     8 Hour Trip (4 MAX) • 2 adults

    3 young kids and a old man caught our limit by noon, so the captain did a great job!!!

    We're gonna need a bigger cooler

    8 Hour Trip (5 MAX) • 5 adults • 3 children

    Top notch experience all around, sweet boat that's roomy, handles well, and runs pretty fast. The Marina he's in is excellent, clean bathrooms, easy close parking, and very nice docks. Captain Mike had it figured out, we didn't have time to get all rods out, no time to eat a sandwich, no time for a drink....it was fish after fish until we hit the limit of 36 walleye at about 10:30am. Capt. Mike was great with my kids, and Wife, and I can't imagine using another charter on Erie, book with confidence...Thanks Mike, had a great time

    Walleye, FAST!

    If you want a charter where the captain is friendly, patient, and knowledgeable, you want to charter with The Rodfather! He was great with our kids, and he taught us so much about walleye fishing on Lake Erie. It was an excellent experience. You won’t be disappointed!! We didn’t even get our first pole down the line before a walleye hit it. Captain Mike knows where to go to catch them! There was hardly a time when we weren’t reeling them in.

    Great Experience

    8 Hour Trip (4 MAX) • 4 adults

    First time out trolling, Captain Mike was patient and took time to explain everything. Caught our limit for Walleye in under a few hours. Boat was nice, didn’t go in the Cubby cabin, but the option was there if needed for a restroom break. I recommend looking Rodfather on Facebook and messaging on there to get in touch with Captain Mike for availability. If you want live bait, you’ll have to pay separately for that, for trolling, he provides everything you’d need. He allows drinks and snacks, but the fish was on as soon as we set up, so didn’t have time to sit and relax. Fish On!! 2 extra cushion seats in the boat, and plenty of room to stand or sit on a cooler. Overall was a great trip, will use again.

    Awesome Trip with the Rodfather!

    It was the first time trolling for all of us, and only one of us had been on Lake Erire before. Captain Mike trained us all on what to do and we had a blast being the "crew". We caught our limit and everyone wants to come back. I would tell anyone to give the Rodfather a call if they want to go fishing on Lake Erie!

What's biting with Rodfather Fishing Charters in Lakeside Marblehead

Both Yellow Perch and Smallmouth Bass fishing is excellent, and lunker Walleye will be waiting for you in the deeper waters around the Western Basin's islands. The weather is getting trickier to predict, so have your rain gear at hand.
