Lazydayz Charters & Adventures

We had a great trip despite the weather - had a lightning show and bits of rain. Caught several fish, unfortunately no keepers this time. Will go again, Captain Mike & Cain were awesome and very easy to interact with! Thanks for the fun morning!

Fun trip out on the water 

Captain Mike was easy going and knowledgeable while his son Cody was great and took time to show my son how to set the line and use the downrigger 

Mike & Cody were great 

Michael and Cody were wonderful, explained a lot to us beginners -- it was my wife and my mum's first time.  Fish bit regularly, we caught probably 15 fish, got to keep 3 silvers, and also took home a nice bounty of spot shrimp and a crab.   Wonderful way to spend the morning with Lazydayz charters.

Cracking end to our 2 week trip to Canada

We had a great afternoon out fishing with Captain Mike. Thanks to his expertise and experience we learned a lot and caught a lot!  We also had a lot of good conversations & overall great day out.  

Highly recommend trip from Nanaimo

Captain Mike was as real and down to earth guy. He was patient, explained why we lost fish, reassured us we would bring them in.We started catching within 15 minutes and continued till we left, with the big one at the end. He worked hard to make sure both lines were always in the water. Definitely will be back!

Outstanding 

Fishing trip was an unforgettable experience with Michael leading the way! He made it look like a breeze, and it was hard to believe how quickly the time flew by. Next year can't come soon enough and will do it all over again, love every single minute 

Amazing fishing trip

We did a half day with Mike and Ian . It was new experience for my son fishing in Canada  and Mike  was a fantastic guide/coach helping him every minute along the way . My son loved fighting those fish in bouncing from one rod to the next at times, a blast ! Exciting new adventure with lots of laughs and great stories about the area . Mike is truly a really nice guy and gave us a guide trip that we will always remember . Fish on ! 👍🏼

We had the greatest time ! Would definitely fish with them again! 

We had an amazing time with Captain Michael and Ian. It was a gorgeous day, a little windy, but the temperature was perfect. Michael is personable and funny, it was very relaxed. He is on top of getting the rods ready, setting the hook and doing a bit of reeling to start things off.

We brought quite a few fish to the boat, lots of koho. Unfortunately the majority were not hatchery, so not legal to keep, but we truly appreciated that Michael follows the regulations. We also scored 4 crabs, which was amazing. My son was smiling the whole time, and this is a kid who tends to play it cool. We'd definitely come back, it was a great experience.

At this time of the year, Chinook Salmon feeds aggressively, although they are not big in size.

<span style='font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;'>This is still the peak season for crabbing and a favorite family activity. It's best to start early, especially near piers.

<span style='font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;'>March marks the beginning of peak Halibut season. Besides fishing, you can also enjoy the Nanaimo festival and celebrate the end of the winter with locals.

<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">With Chinook Salmon still growing and feeding aggressively, you can expect some great fishing action. Halibut and Crabs are still good targets.

You might not like the look of their faces, but you'll surely enjoy their meat. Reel one in and see for yourself!

<span style='font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;'>June brings an interesting mix of Chinooks – this is when both 'feeders' and mature fish start migrating in from the north!

<span style='font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;'>Slowly, all types of Salmon start to show up. There's also the Marine Fest with lots of fun activities to try when you're not fishing. Does a bathtub race sound interesting enough?

<span style='font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;'>This is the peak season for almost every type of fish you can catch in these waters. Lots of mature Salmon are in the area and you'll find some big specimens to catch.

<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">This is the time to become a member of the <span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-style: italic; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Tyee<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"> Club and catch a 30-pounder! The water is bursting with mature Salmon everywhere. In the evening, enjoy Longwoodstock, Nanaimo's music festival.

<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Early fall sees the arrival of Chum Salmon. Other Salmon species are still high in numbers but their peak season is slowly coming to its end.

<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Aggressive "feeder" Chinook show up again and dominate the area until the end of April. Chum Salmon is still great to target.

<span style='font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;'>Crabbing is at its peak during winter, so drop some traps and try your hand at catching some. Chinook Salmon fishing is great, as always.
