Skipper knows his stuff and where to catch fish. Productive day. Went about 90 min off shore. Work 3-4 spots. Working boat so don’t expect new and gleaming. Thanks for good day out.

Comfortable boat. Both the Skipper and his helper were friendly & obliging.  If I had any suggestions, they would be to update the reels on the hire rods as they are a bit old and stick Alot. Will Definately take my own rods, reels and bait next time. Paid $20 for 2 baits but probably only used 500gms. If the boat is going out to Mayor island, prepare for atleast 4 hours of travel time. Used squid as bait and caught medium sized tarakihi and maomao.. A few of the guys on the trip were regulars and very helpful. Had the best weather for a great day of fishing! Recommend this trip as a good day out!! Will definately go again!  Will not be buying mcds for the next few days… #fish for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Thanks Brett.

Thanks. For people who had never been on a fishing trip before, and with far from perfect conditions, they were excellent.  After an hour or so of assistance, they were more competent than plenty of far more experienced fishers.

We have been on a few boats and this was by far the better exerience - we have caught lots of fish before but we have never found a captain and deckhand who have been so helpful; it made our fishing experience so much better.  Sorry, we were too busy fishing to take photos

Good trip but longer stays at each fishing spot instead of 2 minute stops.
Otherwise a great day out.

After 16 years of this, I know if the fish aren’t coming up after 10min.[not 2] they’re not going to.
Some species do, Tarakihi, in particular, don’t.
I don’t steam around looking for fish because I like burning up fuel.

Would highly recommend this trip, captain and crew very knowledgeable and helpful , took us right to where the fish where what a good catch we got.
We will certainly book another trip with you guys , approx 14 to 15 people on this trip and i would honestly say this was enough to enjoy . Thank you very much again
Irene and Dougie :-)

Thanks Judy see you again sometime

Went fishing on Sunday, December 20, 2015

when we rang a booked we were told it was a deep bottom fish approx. around a 10 hour trip
this was a Birthday present for a 70th and my son chaperon his grandfather.
I have since been told this is not the first time this boat has been overloaded to its capacity in the name of making a dollar .
I suggest you find another occupation as you have lost the passion as to why you probably started this venture in the first place .
The worse days fishing is better that the best day working .!!
but this was not made pleasurable by any means ,had you of provided what you stated and been able to head out to one of your better spots with less bodies on board you might have been able to produce some fish .
Also is my concern to your Safety briefing on the boat ? if something happens read the sign !!
My Grandfather whom cant swim had no idea where the life jackets were ? I took a look and an arrow indicated they were under eveybody’s gear !
A lot of good that is if the inevitable was to happen eh.
Yep cant say I would recommend you Charter in the future .

Barry Grouby does not recommend Tauranga Marine Charters - Manutere

Hello Barry
We are licenced for 29 people. We booked up to 20 on a public day when it is busy -between a couple of weeks before Christmas and about 5 January. The day you went out there were 17 people on board.
To catch fish you need to at least put a line in the water.
Our safety record is 100% we have never had an incident or lost anyone overboard. If the inevitable did happen, I assure you the lifejackets are accessible within seconds.
