First and foremost Captain Jerry is focused on safety and a good fishing experience. I’ve been on many charters and there comes a time when fishing is difficult. In these situations there are those captains and mates that will grind it out and still catch fish using a multitude of techniques.That’s the DNA of Captain Jerry and first mate Tyler. We caught a some great Mahi Mahi and a nice Wahoo. If you are on the Big Island and want to fish we recommend Malama charters for you and your family.

I can’t give Jerry and Tyler high enough ratings. These guys were great, even the two of our party who got sea sick enjoyed the trip from the floor. They are very knowledgeable and accommodating.  If I’m ever back to hawaii,  I would not fish with anyone else,  amazing day. We feel like we left the dock with two new friends.

The family came to Hawaii for Christmas and New Year’s from Wyoming. We decided to set up a fishing trip for a day. It started out that we weren’t sure about the weather, and Capt Jerry reassured us he would keep an eye on it and made sure there was crew available. On the day it turned into a beautiful day with lots of laughs and fun on the boat. Repurposing an old fishing boat gave us an authentic and fun deep sea fishing experience. While we didn’t catch “The Big Fish”, Captain Jerry made sure we caught fish we could take home and eat. Deckhand Victor was charming and informative and made sure we had a great experience. Our 16 year old grandson has not stopped talking about the experience yet, so I call this a true winner!
