Background
My name is Tyler Torwick, I have been fishing all my life and it is a true passion of mine. I grew up begging my parents for rides to the local lake back home in San Diego, CA, and it's been an addiction ever since. I moved to Texas to attend Baylor University where I really got into competitive Bass fishing. I was the president of the Baylor University Bass fishing team and competed in numerous collegiate tournament including qualifying for the FLW college series national championship. After graduating, I moved to Austin and have spent my time learning the local lakes and gaining the skill needed to guide on them. In addition to guiding I also fish several large tournament trails throughout central Texas. I have numerous wins and podium finishes on the lakes that I guide on! If you are looking to refine your skills as an angler, or just flat out catch fish, I can help!
Techniques
I like to consider myself a very well rounded angler and not stick to just one style of fishing. With that said, some of my strengths are finesse fishing, offshore fishing, and locating fish with my electronics. I am very good at breaking down a lake, locating high percentage areas that hold fish, and figuring out how to catch them. Lake Travis is my home lake which fishes more like a river system than a lake. It is very deep, rocky and had very clear water, lending itself well to my style of fishing. I am also particularly good on Lake LBJ, which is full of grass and docks... another way I love to fish! I typically only fish with artificial lures, however at your request or when clients bring their children I will bring along some live bait. I especially love to educate people about fishing. So if you are looking to learn something while on the water so you can be more successful on your own, I am the guide for you!

Great Father's Day Trip
Great Father's Day Trip
Jun 17, 2018 Lago Vista
This past Sunday was Father's day... and what better way to celebrate it than taking your dad fishing! One of the families from my girlfriend's second grade elementary class booked a trip as a surprise gift for their dad. I took James, Kayla, and their father Mike out to Lake Travis for a half day evening trip. Right now these are my favorite trips since the fishing has been consistently good! We started out targeting some main lake ledges and points... within the first five casts we had a fish! The entire trips was constant action! Kayla was a little hesitant to touch the fish and their BIG teeth! But they couldn't pass up a good photo op. After wearing out that school of fish we moved up river to another area I have been finding them schooling. I love when clients bring out their children, seeing their faces light up when they catch a fish, even a small bass is priceless. I would cast out the swimbait and hand the rod to James or Kayla and show them the right speed to retrieve it and how high to hold the rod. Once the sun goes down the bite has been picking up! I've been finding schools of Striper down around 30-50' deep. I keep my eyes on the graph and when I see a school cruising below I drop a live minnow or shad down to them. Light line has been helping, but make sure you are nowhere near any marina cables if you are going to drop down to 6-8 pound test. We ended up landing several Striper including being broken off by several others. James fought this big one with very little coaching from me! He did a great job! Right after this one his sister also caught one and did a great job too! If you have children and have been thinking about hiring a fishing guide for Lake Travis or Lake LBJ give me a call! I am very patient and great with kids! The world needs more tackle boxes and less X boxes.... lets get them on the water! Call or book through the website while I have openings left.

I apologize for not being on top of my reports! I post them regularly to my website, but sometimes forget to post them here as well. Anyways... Today was a great trip on Lake Travis! A client of mine recently purchased a brand new Legend V20... talk about a sweet boat! He had it rigged with dual Humminbird Helix 12's and wanted to learn how to use them more effectively. Too change things up we took his boat and I ran it for him. The focus of the trip was to learn some new spots on Travis, understand how to approach them, and to learn to fish offshore. One of my specialities is fishing deep offshore and I love being able to teach others how to be better at it. We caught quite a few fish, but the highlight of the trip was when I pulled up to a deep secondary point near a creek channel... textbook pattern! His MEGA imaging showed the school sitting on the edge of the point clear as day. I showed my client how I like to position the boat, what baits I typically chose, and how to work them. I started off with a Carolina Rig, and on the first cast before I could finish showing him how I work the bait... BAM fish on! We proceeded to catch several off this spot on c rigs, 6XD's and a dropshot. It was a very productive and educational trip. If you have a new fish finder and want to dial it in and learn how to locate and catch fish, give me a call! I am booked up until Sunday, but next week I have some availability. Tight lines!
