Look closely... that ain't no Gambler Lures plastic snake! (If you know the species please feel free to comment) We had an unwelcome visitor today on Lake Travis. While fishing in a cove this not so little guy decided to make himself comfortable underneath my Yamaha. Eventually he swam off but not for a good hour and a couple mile run down river. Today I had the pleasure of guiding two gentlemen from the Dominican Republic here in Austin on work. The day started out chasing some schooling fish. I was showing one of my clients how to work the swimbait tied on and first cast... Bam! Fish on! After the bite slowed we moved on to a few more bluff walls and brush piles of mine. This is when I started to figure out the pattern. The fish were up in the water column and were hitting topwater even when the water was 50+ feet deep under them. We ended up catching a bunch of fish including these two big ones. If you have been thinking about hiring a fishing guide now is the time! Today was an awesome trip! We started out chasing schooling fish main lake. They've been getting a lot of pressure with the weekend traffic, so they we a little more finicky than normal. We still put several in the boat, but ended up moving on and switching patterns. It was a client's birthday, and boy did he get a birthday present! He ended up catching a triple on the Alabama rig, and ended up catching his new personal best largemouth! He caught a 7.2 bass that put up one heck of a fight. Fish has been great lately, and the evening bite has also been phenomenal. I've got openings this next week!

Today was one of those days you live for as a fisherman. The weather was perfect and the conditions set up right for a pattern I have been on, that no one else seems to be keyed in on. Myself and another local guide paired up to fish a tournament today. We were on the right grade of fish, but the large bites we needed just wouldn't commit to the bait. We could see them following the bait but missing the hooks or just not eating it. Without exaggeration we caught over 80 fish today... my thumbs are raw from lipping bass. Right now the fish are all over the lake, but the main schools have been receiving a lot of pressure from other anglers. The pattern that we discovered is untapped and I'm sure its only a matter of time before we catch a 7 pounder or bigger! Like the title says... there are fish everywhere! We started out the day chasing schooling fish but after catching about 25 we moved on. Right now a lot of the schools are smaller fish, however there are bigger ones mixed in. Typically the larger fish are under the schools of buck bass, so if you can get past the little ones, you may get lucky! There have also been some nice sized Striper mixed in with the largemouths, as well as some hefty white bass! If you are thinking of booking a trip, between now and the next two weeks would be a great window. We are catching big numbers of fish both during the AM trips and the late PM trips. It was one of my client's 7th birthday, and as a birthday present his father took him fishing on Lake Travis with Torwick's Guide Service. Travis has been fishing great lately, with the exception of a few extremely windy days, the fish have chewing! Fishing bluff walls, points and ledges have produced great numbers with some larger fish mixed in. For Titus' birthday I brought a few dozen minnows to make things more exciting for him. We caught plenty on artificials but after I located a school of largemouth bass it was lights out. Every minnow caught a fish... we even started using the dead bait, it didn't matter. We fished for four hours during the evening and boated over 40 fish. To top things off Titus landed a 4+ pound bass all by himself! His personal best!
