Background
Captain Steve grew up in Indiana and had a love of all things outdoors from a young age. He entered his first tournament at the age of 9. He continued competitive tournament fishing in his hometown lakes and ranked nationally in the BFL All American. He then progressed and moved on to the Everstart and the FLW Series divisions. Always wanting to share his love of fishing, nature, and wildlife with others, he pursued a career as a licensed captain and is now certified through the U.S. Coast Guard and also carries a Sea Tow endorsement. Captain Steve has continued his career as a full-time fishing captain. In his free time, he can still be found on the water with his sons and daughter enjoying the great outdoors. Captain Brent has been blessed to have fished in various Bass fishing clubs, fishing tournaments, and charity events over the past 27 years, helping him and gaining guide experience. Now a full-time fishing guide, he enjoyed fishing with his clients!

Captain Steve loves to throw artificial lures from topwater, jerk baits, flukes, worms and a variety of soft plastics. The best method to catch largemouth bass on Lake Toho is using live wild-caught shiners. If you are looking for the best time on the water, I advise using Shiners!

As the cool weather heads south over Lake Toho, the bait around the lake has woken up. This causes a feeding frenzy of bass, schooling up on large numbers of shad. Weโ€™re averaging catching 20-30 bass on just our 4-hour trips and as always, when bass are feeding heavily on shad, the topwater bite is on also. One ramp in particular, Big Toho Marina, is holding large schools of shad with bass chasing them right inside the marina walls. We donโ€™t need to go far to catch them right now. Out in the lake, the most consistent areas you can get bit in right now are on the few shell beds the lake has to offer. Bass have been chasing Shad nearly every day in these areas. The other areas have been solid edges of hydrilla and Kissimmee grass lines. It usually doesnโ€™t take long for the bait and bass in the area to show themselves if theyโ€™re there. After fishing 20mins if you havenโ€™t seen any bait or bass chasing them, just move. Early the topwater bite has been on everyone's favorite, Spooks, Whoppers, and frog baits. But after the morning flurry is over. Flukes, jerk baits, speedworms, and spinnerbaits have all been producing. And when the morning shad spawn ends late morning to mid-day. Flipping the thicker grass back inside where the shad was spawning earlier has been catching fish when nothing else will. Of course, as always the biggest bass and the bulk of the numbers weโ€™re catching on our guide trips lately have all been off of large golden shiners. But this can be a particularly fun time of year for artificials with the early topwater bite added in. The fishing on Lake Toho has remained excellent, but coming into primetime and if youโ€™re looking to bass fish in the fall or in the winter, I would definitely recommend booking now while you still can, as its booking up fast! This summer on Lake Toho is healthier than ever and producing big fish. With lots of grass on the lake this year. Which has made the water quality and fishing throughout the entire lake. Weโ€™ve been catching an average of 25 to over 35+ fish a day on our guide trips and with conditions holding strong, it should remain that way for the rest of the summer. In early morning or late afternoon. The best bite in with summer time bass have been on Zoom flukes, senkos, and Zoom speedworms. If you have a good wind and clouds, a lightly weighted speedworm reeled across the top of the grass has been working well. But if you donโ€™t have the wind or clouds then a fluke or weightless senko has been more productive. However if youโ€™re looking to book a trip and want to get the most out of your day, golden shiners are generally a great way but we do more artificial trips this time of the year. Lake Toho just continues to impress with the number of quality bass being pulled out of it this year and with the water quality being better than Iโ€™ve seen in years, it should continue to produce the fish thatโ€™s made it famous for years to come.
