4 Hour Trip – Campbell River (AM) • 2 adultsReally great experience! Doug was our guide for the 6AM fishing tour. On the way out we saw some whales in the distance and caught about a dozen salmon of different types and sizes (of course releasing most back into the water) with one HUGE monster ivory king salmon. Doug, was great company and a very experienced and skilled fisherman, extremely knowledgeable about fishing and the island itself. He knows so much about fishing that even if we had not caught any fish it would’ve been a great morning. The trip was everything we could’ve hoped for, 100% recommend.

6 Hour Trip – Introductory Charter • 2 adultsDoug’s knowledge and expertise of his craft and the area was invaluable. We had a great time with several catch and release, and keepers for both of us. We got tangled in some discarded gear from another boat, and he took the time and effort to hand pull a stray cannonball up from the bottom that had taken off with our line. And we got to see some whales! We appreciated Doug’s friendliness, responsibility, and sense of humor throughout this whole adventure. Would definitely come again.

4 Hour Trip – Campbell River Mid • 2 adultsWe like to try and get out 1 or 2 times per month through the summer. Getting the early ferry and doing 4 hour day trips at a reasonable price works well for us - we can get back to the mainland without needing to stay over night and add the cost of a hotel. Our guide Bruce was frendly, knowledgeable, and put us on the fish for a great day on the water. Thanks and cheers Bruce.

Our guests made the trip all the way from Germany to fish the Salmon Capital of the World — and Cape Mudge delivered in a big way! With Fishing Storie Charters guide Bruce at the helm, the group landed 9 Chinook salmon, all released to fight another day, topped off by a beautiful 15 lb chrome beauty. Not bad for a day’s work! It’s always incredibly rewarding to watch international guests experience world-class salmon fishing for the first time right here in Campbell River. Double Header Winter Chinook - Discovery
Feb 8, 2026 • Campbell River
Captain Bruce put two anglers on a double header today out of Discovery Passage. Both winter Chinook came up chrome bright in the 10-12 lb range — healthy feeders holding deep in 7.6°C water. The bite came as current eased toward the afternoon slack, trolling the edges where bait was stacking up. Conditions were about as good as February gets on the water — calm seas, broken clouds, light wind out of the northeast. The winter Chinook fishery in Campbell River is one of the best-kept secrets on the coast. These fish are aggressive feeders and they fight well above their weight class. Captain Bruce runs 4-hour trips aboard the Boston Whaler Montauk, departing three times daily from Discovery Harbour Marina. Two-person trips mean personalized attention and more time on fish. Opening Day Highlights: Chinook & Coho
The wait is over! Today marks the official opening day for Chinook salmon in Campbell River, and the bite was nothing short of spectacular. Anglers aboard the Boston Whaler Conquest with Fishing Storie Charters enjoyed a full day of action, with Chinook weighing up to 35 lbs landed throughout the day. With the new unrestricted size limit for Chinook and the daily limit increased to 2 per angler, this season is shaping up to be one of the best in years.
Coho salmon are now open as well, providing exciting opportunities for both novice and experienced anglers. These wild Coho were caught trolling herring and spoons in the river mouth and adjacent channels, giving guests a thrilling mix of both Chinook and Coho on the same trip.
